As soon as I switched to raw, my Jill Pinky started to stash her food. I gave her feeding den right by where she gets fed (bottom floor of a 2 storey cage) and she instantly took to it but she occasionally takes a choice piece upstairs to hide in her blankets. The question is; do I provide another den upstairs for her or just keep encouraging her to use only the bottom floor one? Edit: Just noticed this is in the diet section rather than over in enrichment, sorry

I have that issue too. But let me tell you, I bought metal shower curtain holders to hook onto the side of their cage and that stopped the stashing perfectly. So that's definitely something I'd recommend

Some people r more lenient than others---mine stash through out house, and i just pick it up every day or two(or three rofl). I would have multiple dens---if you are the lenient type.
What i like to do is---- feed them in their room and close the door for a while, which forces them to stash in cage and their feeding den(upside down tub). Then, if they stash through out house, it is more dry.
I have a power fresh Bissell steamer that I use in my spare bedroom. Just recently made it where main bedroom is off limits.
Free roamers here.

So part of the reason I actually bought a ferret nation cage to begin with was so I had more room for a feeding den. Missy was stashing in the litter box and then they were not using the litter box for anything but a stash place. It was a mess. I ended up having 2dens set up but because they were nice and dark they ended up pooping and peeing in them! One was wood so I ended up taking them out, I use the shower curtain hooks for larger pieces and chicken wings and I keep the litter boxes far away from the feeding bowls otherwise. Occasionally Missy will still go to a litter box to stash but there are 2 other boxes in the cage (it is a double cage) so there hasn't been any issue with messes. I love the idea of feeding dens, easy to clean and all that jazz but it just wasn't what my beasties needed/wanted. I have said all that just to say, it never hurts to try it. If it goes well great if not we'll you tried. Good luck!

I put a second den in Pinkys cage and its done the trick so far I'm just using old shoe boxes with a hole in one end atm until I find the right size plastic boxes. Luckily she hasn't felt the urge to move any food from her dens to her out of cage stashes ...yet... And I like the shower hook idea too. Haven't tried her on anything big enough to hook yet. Got a couple of chicken wings in the fridge, might try her on one today.

I actually don't use a den, just hooks in the top level of the CN. Ground meat goes in a dog dish. They'll carry it around the top level but thankfully don't take it to the bottom level where the litter box and dig box are.
