Alright, the vet we are going to tomorrow is on the list: ) she's actually the other vet in the same clinic I've been going to. (I asked the lady on the phone if either of them had more ferret experience and she said they're both the same so i was a little worried) i originally picked this clinic because it was on the fetret shelters website, and the last one i went to with my first ferret shouldnt even say they take ferrets it was so bad. Im still going to call the pet stores just to see and i left a message with the shelter lady to see if she has updates. Ill let u guys know if i have a pleasant experience at a new place. Thank you so much for the advice, it means a lot!

Here is a picture of what I thought was bruising. Now that I saw a larger image of it, it looked like it was just bluish in the entire middle. I tried to upload a video of her being happy and adorable but I cant get it to work.

Aspirine just like any other antiinflamatory tends to cause ulcers if not given with food and a H2-blocker ( like cimetidine, ranitidne or omeprazole). Meloxicam is the NSAID of choice for long-term usage. unclejoe BSAVA Manual of Rodents and Ferrets is a way better book than Merck for ferrets Merck is very good for large animals and dogs/cats

I suggested aspirin for short term as the vet office was closed for a long holiday weekend. We gave it to two ferrets with terminal cancers.
Thank you for the tip. I will definitely look for the book you suggested. Is it available online? The Merck manual is. I see a copy on Amazon for $150, which is a bit out of reach right now. As you say, Merck doesn't have enough info for ferrets, but it's all I had, other than the AVMA site.

I only gave her a quarter of the low dose one that night. She went to the other vet today (who was on the recommended list) and she didnt run any tests but is 98 percent sure that her huge belly and lumps on her neck are lymphoma. She upped the dose of pred to .3 mg x2 a day and said to see how that works for pain for now since shes doing ok at the moment. All in all im just relieved i got the answers i needed to explain all her symptoms and also glad i found a vet who seemed to know something about ferrets. On another note, my friends 7 month old cat must have jumped off his balcony and ran away while he was sleeping. The whole area is a swamp and the cat is so cuddly bit so timid. Im going nuts. not a good day to love animals as much as i do. Thanks everyone for your input! Ive been learning so much The past few days.

I know you suggested aspirin as an emergency drug I suggested meloxicam if pain medication was needed for a longer period I know it's a bit expensive, but if you want send me your e-mail adress via PM and i will send you a pdf version.

Wait wait wait ! No aspirin or meloxicam for him ! Or any other NSAID for him as long as he's taking prednisolone or any AINS !
Good catch, doc!
Edit: I'm sorry, I hit edit instead of quote. PLease repost contraindications. Sorry. unclejoe

What the vet gave us when Aramis was in pain was TRAMAL. It's a liquid painkiller, that tastes horrible, but it worked very well.

I asked the vet about buprenorphine and she said we would do that if we needed to but also said absolutely no NSAIDS if shes on pred

Yeah Tramal (or tramadol, they are the same thing ) and buprenophrine and butorphanol are opioids that can be given for pain and won't interfere with prednisolone
