I wish I could make this easier on you. It's so hard to watch them go thru this. Keep posting and there are alot of members who have dealt with this. I found the forum looking for help when my Ponce developed Insulinoma. His symptoms came and went. We increased his prednisolone and added Diazoxide. I syringe fed him thru the night. Unfortunately, he developed Lymphoma and that's what we lost him to. Ponce was showing no signs of pain. I simply did not have the fortitude to help him pass to the Rainbow Bridge. Ponce passed away in my arms, knowing he was loved and was with us, at home in the end. That's not a choice for everyone and had he showed any signs of pain, I would have had the strength to help ease him into a gentle journey. I wish you all the best. I would work with your vet and keep posting for some loving ferrent advice and experience. If you can get the meds right, you may buy him some more time. That's a decision only you can make.

I personally would try everything. If you know he is adrenal - he needs medication. I couldn't rest until trying everything in my power to help him...

What are treatment options for adrenal disease? I think the vet one said one option is the same hormone treatment (maybe deslorelin?)that my guinea pig gets for ovarian cysts but its $200. It lasts a year but considering his current health I would rather go for a cheaper, shorter term option for now. If he gets better I will go with the 1 year implant.

If you can get Lupron, try a 3 month depot. Back in the day when it was cheap and Des (Suprelorin) was hard to get, Lupron was sometimes used first to test how well a fuzz would respond to Des.
Edit: I just spoke to 2 of my vets (hate juggling them) One says If I buy the 5 pack of Suprelorin for $650 She'll hold the other 4 for me and/or contact me before selling them to other ferrents. The other vet, an hour away, has them in stock for $175/ea, but hurry they may go fast.

Hes had a couple more meals. I gave him some on a plate first and he eats about half his meal on his own (and hes kind of standing to eat and doesn't need to rest his head anymore) so I syringe fed him the other half. I have also been giving him water because I think hes a bit dehydrated. Hes also burying himself in the blankets again, getting up to use the bathroom and reacting when I open the cage so I think hes feeling a bit better already.

Hes feeling better today. He got up and walked around the cage. He didn't eat any regular food but he did go into the feeding den to see what was there. I chopped up some heart for him (heart is his favorite) but he didn't eat any. I will continue to give him A/D canned every 4 hours but hopefully he will eat raw again soon.

It may take 3 days or so for the meds to really have effect. It's good he's eating and moving around. Don't give up! He's not. He may go back to his regular diet once he gets his appetite back.

Not giving up yet. I think I just got overwhelmed when he was doing so terrible a couple days ago. I didn't know how to help him and got discouraged with my mom telling me its time. She now agrees that I am making the right decision with trying to get him better. I think she also got overwhelmed when he was doing terrible and felt bad for him.

We are back from the vet. We are not completely sure he has adrenal disease. He has hair loss, thin skin and a pot belly but these can also be symptoms of the prednisone. I chose not to do the blood test to see if he has it because the vet said treating it if he does have it probably wont make much of a difference. Hes not having any issues peeing so its mostly cosmetic issues. I also found out he has cataracts (but he can still see for now) and he possibly has lymphoma (he has large lymph nodes). We decided we are going to try to keep the insulinoma under control and make him as comfortable as possible.

I'm sorry if he does have lymphoma. I guess you know the treatment is the same as insulinoma. I don't know what else you could do. As Poncesmom's experience suggests, it'll most likely be the lymphoma that gets him. Lots of love for him.

I wish your little guy All the Best. My heart goes out to you. It's just so hard and I wish we could explain to them, what's happening. He may or may not understand but talking to him will help both of you. Your comfort and kind words will help make him feel even more secure and loved.

Hes not doing as well again. The past few meals he has refused to eat anything on his own and this morning I had to put him back to bed and cover him again because he was to tired to do it himself.

He was struggling to get to the water dish. He would take a step or 2, rest and repeat. I picked him up and put him in front of the water dish (also on the newspaper in case he had to use the bathroom). I'm back to not knowing what to do. He was doing better for a couple days and now hes getting worse again. I guess I will continue to wait and see how he does.
