My Missy was wagging her tail while playing the other night and it was the cutest thing ever but I have never heard of a ferret wagging its tail before. Have I just missed it or is this unusual behavior?

It's not unusual, just not common behavior. I have only caught one of my four doing it. It's pure happiness in a tail. LOL

Tail wagging is often seen when stalking and playing (especially in the tubes). Kits are more prone to it than adults but occasionally you will see an adult get really worked up and do it too. It's really cute ciao

I only get a short glimpse of tail wags when I put the tubing in my ferrets' pen and they get all excited chasing each other and zipping through it. It's a shame my boy ferret likes to chew plastic so I can't leave it in with them for very long before having to take it out. That makes it an extra special treat when they do have it though.

is tail wagging a sign of aggression ? Because I've only seen Aramis do it to the new girl, every time he can't reach her somewhere. They did play decently today, until at some point Aramis got pissed and started shaking her neck pretty bad - I got in between then and then checked her out and she had no marks, no blood, no poo or pee, but she did spray him pretty bad, I think he still stinks

Mine usually will do it during play. I've seen Roamy do it when he is able to corner Keller. I wouldn't call it a sign of aggression since it occurs during play. To me, it's more a sign that they are just super excited. You're actually doing pretty well with Aramis and your new girl. This morning, I got to give two poop covered girls a bath. Juliet woke up Keller (roughly) and they both were covered in poop.

Try picking up some black drainage pipes. They come in ten foot sections. I bought 4 for $42 dollars. The hardware store can cut them for you. A ferret can't bite thru those. The ones with holes are more expensive by a few dollars. But you can blow into them and make everyone crazy. Mine never get tired of theirs. Here's what I'm talking about: www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=29173266&cp=2568443.2568452.2631237.2631269.1260872

It was in their tube this happened. Missy was on one end and Sir on the other they were going to meet in the middle and I started running my fingers on the outside of the tube between them. Hope to see it often. (dance)

Rolo will usually only wag his tail when he's climbing through tubes or stalking Twiggy(his cat friend).

is tail wagging a sign of aggression ? Because I've only seen Aramis do it to the new girl, every time he can't reach her somewhere. I think it can be, or at least sign of severe excitement/agitation during aggression. I've only ever seen Maisie do it once, and it was when she was at the shelter/boarding house, going up a ramp to another ferret's cage to attack her. She hates all other ferrets and it was not in the slightest bit any kind of play or friendship. However it's a good sign that in Aramis's case there was some play. Perhaps it's that he's completely hyped up and it can go either way. Or perhaps it's a sign of stalking, like a cat, since Maisie was also on the attack (the brat. She got on great with the cat and the dog, though).

It wouldn't surprise me if it were a bit of both. Missy is actually very much a little b., an adorable one but still very much the aggressor in pretty much every instance and it was her that wagged. I have not seen Sir do it yet but I did see her do it once more earlier tonight while trying to attack a finger again through the tube.
