Bone meal should be fine for a few days. Short of grinding your own raw bones into a bone pudding or something, which would probably be overkill, I doubt there's a better option.

I would think bone powder & boneless would be fine temporarily- it's better than him not eating at all or hurting himself in the meantime! So glad cytology came back with nothing serious!
