Hi all, I need a little advice regarding a ferret I rescued last weekend. Over the last six days he has developed a sneezing cough with shivers and a runny nose (clear discharge) the two other members of his group also get the sneezes intermittently.
This is evening he seems a tad lathargic, he appeared to be dropping his winter coat I essentially seemed to have 'plucked' brushed out his top coat on his back, it was just falling out in clumps; afterwards he puked up the salmon oil I treated him too whilst I was grooming him.
i cuddled him in the bathroom with the hot water making the bathroom steamy, and have made him a raw soup for dinner.
Any thoughts, suggestions we are going to try and find a open vet tomorrow morning but it will be Sunday here in the UK so I could really do with your thoughts.
Between my partner and I we have nine ferrets so I am feeling very scared for my buisness.
Thank you.

If you got your ferret from a shelter, maybe they could give you a medical opinion or targeted advice?

I too would quarantine and have him checked over sounds to me like you have a bad case of the flu going on there and he will pass it on ! keep him in the bathroom in a steamy atmosphere ( I normally have a bowl with hot water outside the cage to which I add a tiny amount of vapour drops and then place a large towel over bowl and cage make sure he cannot get near the boiling water ) warm meals little and often and plenty of fluids but be warned they will love the attention and keep you at it lol let us know how he is doing take care bye for now Bev
