Well boiling down... time to toss out what I have left of the Ferretvite even if Zim doesn't have Insulinoma. (It was actually the first thing they tested.)

Yeah. Regretfully, I used the stuff for a long time. I have fed raw since day one, but people still used FerreTone and I thought they were the same thing...never checked the label. One day someone said something and I realized they were different (*headdesk*). Mine also went in the garbage - the only place that stuff belongs unfortunately. Have you tried giving your boy any oils? Salmon oil is the best, then fish oil, then extra virgin olive oil. It can take some time for them to get used to salmon oil, so it often works best to first cut it with olive oil or FerreTone (not vite) and gradually up the salmon oil amount. Mine hated it at first, but now they will do anything to get some - Koda will sell his furry little soul for the stuff! (giggle) It's really healthy for them, good for their coats and skin, and once they learn to like it they LOVE it so it can really help with introducing new foods and giving meds. I always keep a dropper bottle around for giving it out in tiny amounts as treats too.

Actually the vet wanted me to use Nutrical but I didn't have any. I'm the one that used Ferretvite as its replacement.
OH LOOK! The Ferretvite's lonely at the bottom of my trash can.. but wait!.. it has a friend.. the Ferretone I tossed earlier today!!

lol The Tone is not *too* horrible - you can use it to switch them over to salmon oil at least. But it does have potentially cancer-causing preservatives. Nurtical and FerretVite are essentially the same exact thing - just produced by different companies for different species. www.amazon.com/Tom-Lyn-NutriCal-For-Cats/dp/B000ALD3XKVeterinarian recommended dietary supplement that increases caloric and nutritional intake. Ideal for finicky eaters, pets who are "off food" or animals who need an extra dose of energy. Corn syrup, soybean oil, malt syrup, cod liver oil, cane molasses, methylcellulose, water, gelatin by-products, dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (vit.E), sodium benzoate (preservative), manganese sulfate, ferric ammonium citrate, thiamine HCI, niacin ,calcium pantothenate (source of calcium and pantothenic acid), magnesium sulfate, pyridoxine HCI, potassium iodine (source of iodine and potassium), riboflavin 5'- phosphate sodium (source of vit. B2 and phosphorus), vitamin A palmitate & D supplement, folic acid and cyanocobalamin (vit b12).

So I have another question to pose to all of you lovely knowledgeable people....
What would a RAW Dook soup recipe be for a sick/recovering from surgery fuzzbutt?
Is it the same as the Raw Soupie recipe?

So I have another question to pose to all of you lovely knowledgeable people.... What would a RAW Dook soup recipe be for a sick/recovering from surgery fuzzbutt? Just the normal raw soup recipe. 1oz heart 1oz liver 8oz muscle meat (preferably a darker meat, like thighs) ½ to ¾ tsp bone meal or crushed egg shell

OMG I am laughing my sides off right now. The starter course for this whole Raw thing is the soupie they start with if they're not thrilled with bite sized pieces. Why do I find that ridiculously funny right now? OH ps: hurricanekatt? I love your avatar pix of Dar with Kodo & Podo. They are my reason for the disease I suffer:

HAHA WHERE did you get that shirt?!?! Yeah BeastMaster is pretty much responsible for me getting ferrets. And partly responsible for Koda's name! I have really bad hearing and for a very long time thought that he was saying "Koda and Poda" - I wanted to name my ferret after the movie, AND I really like Brother Bear and Koda's personality very much fits Koda from that movie. I thought I was naming him after 2 characters at once - oops!
