I noticed for a while that Gizmo (almpsy 10 month old) has a patch of hair missing up above his hip - it looks like it's been shaved, but not completely. I can post a pic tomorrow. I though it was from rough fighting but there's no trace of anything, and it doesn't seem to grow back. I showed to the vet last week and she just said it might be from fighting. It just.. doesn't look like that to me. Any ideas, should I be concerned?

It's completely bald? Maybe from extra grooming?
A pic would definitely be helpful.

Sorry for taking so long - I've been extra busy. And he's soooo squiggly that I don't even know if the pic will show anything. The fur looks trimmed. Like taking a shaver and trimming it:

That is weird... I'm sorry, I have no idea what it is.

ferrets love squeezing under things, are you sure he did not squeeze under something with a sharp edge like sheet metal. mine loved trying to get under the dishwasher, they don't smooth all the sheet metal edges under there.
start looking around the house for sharp metal edges that would be inviting for a ferret to get under.

LoL I have lots of ferrets who show this pattern at this time of year I can leave my poleys one night walk in the next morning and it looks like someone has taken an electric razor to both front legs for surgery ! lol they simply shed in strips here and there all over there bodies once the full shed is complete they have super soft shiny slinky fur believe me it can be scary the first time it happens lol but once you see it over and over the fear tends to disappear lol take care bye for now Bev

Thanks crazylady ! This is the first ferret I see this on, usually the others just shed the fur in a way that isn't really visible (but on my carpet )
