I have two ferrets a little girl (Meeko~ 3yrs) and just got a boy (Pabu~ 2months). And ever since getting my little guy the ferret smell has definitely amplified. I've realised that because I live in Australia, there are barely any ferret supplied, nor any (good) companies that ship here. So Im hoping that someone might have a good dry shampoo and odor neutraliser spray(like the one you spray on the ferret itself) recipe.
I replace their litter tray daily, wash their linen and bedding weekly, and keep them on a good diet. And because it's not good bathing them often I'm hoping a dry bath and spray every now and again will help.
If anyone has something it would be AMAZING!

R they on raw? This may help with smell. You may need to stock up on some more blankets and linens and change more frequently. My first set of ferrets smelled more than the ones i have now----like popcorn.. They were on kibble, but it wasn't an offensive smell. But what is non-offensive to my nose may be totally different to someone else's. Personally, I would not put anything on a ferret's skin other than water.

being in Australia, 2 things spring to mind.
1. Maybe they are both poofing lots as they are new to each other (and Pabu may also have just discovered his poofer), if so it should settle with time; or
2. Am assuming young Pabu is not yet desexed and so some of it may be hormonal, although he is a bit young to be in rut yet and definitely too young to be desexed. That means you can't do much to stop it if it is hormonal. Although ensuring he has correct amounts of lighting will avoid him coming into rut at the wrong times (a hob in rut is definitely a stinky greasy weasel)

Thanks abbeytheferret6, I'm going to get some more blankets so I can replace their bedding more often, I think that will help too. Thanks for your response @theresa, I think it might just be hormonal with Pabu. I'm lucky enough to have a vet for a boyfriend, so he knows when he is due for desexing and what not. Pabu def knows about his poofer, he stunk out my bathroom when I needed to give him (presumably his first) rinse the other day and he freaked out. They are lucky enough to have a massive balcony to run around on so I'm assuming that they are getting enough sun light. I'm hoping it's just because Pabu hasn't been desexed yet. I think I might try and replace their bedding twice a week and hope that helps with it all.
