So she likes oil? Put a bowl on the scale and tare it out, put oil on her belly and show her that it is on her belly. She should lick away while you get a better weight on her. But a whole pound already!! Yay! I don't actually think she will be as tiny as you think. Raw fed babes grow so fast and they have a lot of muscle mass. I get elk from a local hunter. We basically cleaned out his fridge of old meat. We got it for free too. We also got rainbow trout but that's for the humans.

I think you're right about her being bigger than I thought she'd be. She's been hulking out lately playing too, can drag my sons giant shoes around and is obsessed with going up the stairs like she's training for the ferret olympics lol! I can see how a raw fed baby would get bigger if you start them young, the right food during critical growth periods and all. It's pretty neat watching her grow up and get braver and crazier by the day! That's so cool that you get elk from a local hunter! Great connection to have, have you tried it yourself at all? Curious what it tastes like! Love rainbow trout too, grew up camping in mammoth at June lake and we used to spend whole days fishing and swimming and eating what we caught for dinner. I didn't much like cleaning the fish at first, but it was worth it for dinner. Love trout! She ate 2.5oz of wingette early this morning (between 2 and 7am, I fell asleep on the couch waiting for my nailpolish to dry so she got hooked up early) and has already gone through an ounce of pork/ground beef puree. There's another ounce on the plate for her to get at during the day. She's been playing for a few hours now, her first free roam down stairs so she should be hungry again soon!

I haven't tried this meat. The meat was from 2005 so I thought it best to just give it to the ferts. I'm not a fan of freezer burnt meat. I have had Elk before though. It's good, I enjoy it. Although I like buffalo more.
I haven't had trout before so we will see if I like it.
That's a good amount for her! They really do eat a lot huh?

15.76 ounces oil+bowl ftw!
They do eat a lot, she's attacking the rest of her pork and beef now.
I love bison too. Using it for chili or meatloaf is my favorite!

A bison burger is my weak spot. Best darn thing ever.
I love that trick. It works when you need to clip her nails too!!

I'm pretty sure I just witnessed a bone temper tantrum! She's working a big wing joint while I'm doing laundry and all the sudden I see her in a alligator roll freaking out. She stops, sits up, and uses her paws to rip it out of her mouth and chucks it across the cage. I laughed so hard. Sorry Kat. She spun around in a huff and ran to a smaller bone.
I checked her teeth because it may have been stuck, she's fine just wounded pride lol. So tough to grow up!

She woke up banging her plate on the bars at 4am last night so CGH midnight snack. 2 ounces of wingette around 10am, she finished that and will get 3 ounces pork/beef mix as soon as she's done playing around in the snow! Updated pic of her at 15.76 ounces

She is absolutely beautiful. You might want to put more on her plate for nighttime. My little Mika is a night time eater and it sounds like your Kat may be also.
Bwah ha ha...she has learned that clinking plates brings food. (giggle)

Will do! This is her second time banging the plate around, I feel I'm setting myself up for servitude LOL! It's ok though I've been going to bed late reading and hooking her up around 2am, both nights I didn't she let me know I failed her. I'll keep it up from now on little Kat! She's got about half her pork and beef left still but after playing today she poured herself into her hammock and promptly went DFS!

She's turning down CGH as of last night. I left it in there and added some organs, and wonder of wonders she ate the organs and not the CGH. Put a new piece in an hour ago that she hasn't touched either. So now I'm defrosting wingettes. I gave her an egg to hold her over, but Lady Kat Her Royal Kat-ness only eats egg when it's hand fed. Very enthusiastic about it though, and no biting! I got almost through it all about to go see if she'll eat the rest.
I threw out the CGH, just smelled it and it doesn't smell all that great, I think Kat is wise to ignore. Going to scrub her eating ledge just in case. I'll just put eggshell powder on whatever is thawed and ready to go today if the wingettes don't hurry up.

Snow is now slush. Boredom has driven me to seek out pinkies. Hopefully Kat enjoys. Got a 6 pack of pinkies and she freaked out more than she did for pork with the 2 I gave her! I dropped my phone having to catch her from her wild leap at the napkin and my flash turned off. The napkin is under her because she was hoarding it immediately. Bad lighting Anakin is crying in the background as she does whenever someone who is not her gets meat!

Had a really good weekend of eating, including last night putting away almost 3 ounces of chicken, but she threw up about 20 minutes ago. It's liquidy and not a lot, but she was pretty freaked out by it during. Still playing and no flat ferret action, but she wouldn't eat anything I offered her before or after the vomiting happened. She's in the tub with her balls and toys so I can see anything that may come up or come out of her. No apparent distress, just not wanting to eat. I'll make her a soupie and hope for the best?
Edit: she's always supervised while out and the room she's in has only ferret toys. I vacuum it daily since it's upstairs and the kids are up there just to make sure there's nothing to eat, especially along the baseboards. She has been shedding, and vomiting was preceded by a lot of effort with little produced so could it be a hairball? Should I do a blockage protocol? I guess it wouldn't hurt. I just checked her litterbox and I don't see anything new in there.

When and what was her last meal before throwing up?
Is she active and alert or does she give you a rather lethargic impression?

Her last meal was put in her cage around 11pm last night. It was 3 ounces of primarily beef mixed with some pork. She was refusing beef so the mix was to make it acceptable, she'd eaten it before. I just took it out of the freezer yesterday morning. I gave her chicken at 7am, there was maybe half an ounce of the beef/pork left on her plate. She didn't touch the chicken. She's active, but more cuddly today too. Normally she's squirelly when held, today she was much more relaxed. When I put her down upstairs and sat with her she did play though and kept her belly up off the floor. She ran around with some toys but she was mostly sniffing around and crawling through her tunnels. I found this in the tub, I wanted to isolate any poops or vomit she may have. Normally she plays in the tub with her toys but she curled up in her tunnel to sleep when I went in to check on her. She did lick a drop of salmon oil, and she did eat a small chunk of pork I hand fed her but no more than that. I'm really hoping it's an off day but I've had a ferret for 2 weeks so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Her poop looks good, I'm confused right now. Edit: I pulled it apart in the tissue to see if there was much hair. There was 4 strands.

Does she eat egg? If yes I would give her scrambled raw egg to help passing hair/hairballs?
