A couple years ago we bought a digital camera that I have just not figured out. It has 8 mpx, but it also has a delay which makes getting pix of ferrets a challenge. My phone was an iphone 3. 2 weeks ago I got an iphone 5s. these are the first ferret pics I took with it. There is no delay between pics so it shoots almost as fast as you can hit the button. I took 20 pics and only junked 3-4. Never thought my phone would take better pics than my camera... Pandy Yoshi

Great pics! Also play with the top right edit button on your photos where you can do a bunch of stuff to them or enhance colors

Great pics! Also play with the top right edit button on your photos where you can do a bunch of stuff to them or enhance colors These were minimally tweaked on photobucket, but you're right, it's cool being able to edit pics before sending them. My old phone didn't have zoom or flash either.

Great pictures! Just a comment on the camera you haven't figured out yet.. Almost all consumer digital cameras have a delay between pressing the button and the picture being captured. In most cases, the delay is caused by the auto focus feature. If you push the button halfway down, the camera will focus without capturing the image (it will usually beep or an indicator light will come on, or both). Then you can recompose and take the shot without the delay. As long as you keep the button depressed halfway, you should be able to fire as quickly as you want without the camera having to refocus. Because ferrets are moving targets, if your camera has an Al servo focus function, you can use that setting with a little more success. It allows the auto focus to follow whatever you focused on...sort of. It doesn't always move quickly enough to keep up with ferrets, lol.

yeah well the problem with that is by the time the camera composes the shot the subject ferret has shown you her butt. I guess I should just machine gun shoot and hold the shutter down and hope I get a good one out of 10. Thing is, this camera is supposedly an update of my Fuji Finepix 3000, with 4 times the pixels, but I just can't get it to do what I want, even in auto mode. The old one was 3.2 Mpx, but It took great pics every time.

Lol, I do understand that problem. I have a ton of butt pictures! The trick is to focus (depress button halfway) on something OTHER than the ferret that is the same distance away but is being still, then recompose and take the shot (depress button all the way) with the ferret in the frame, all while holding down the shutter button halfway and keeping your drink from being knocked off the table, and..... Hey, bring that back, dang it! There is a slight learning curve, lol. I would suggest that you practice with the camera on something besides the ferrets. I'm sure the camera takes great pictures, but it's the auto-focus messing things up. Really the only way to decrease auto focus lag is to use LOTS of light. Or just use your phone!

i used to love my minolta slr. it's hard to pose a fuzz and hold a shutter button. while I don't like the vertical format of fone pics, i'm really liking this fone cam. plus, i always have it with me. plus, the fuji digital cam eats batteries like popcorn. as soon as I can afford it i will get a digital slr, because I love composing and taking pics, but other than portrait sittings, this fone cam seems to be the best chance at getting decent fert pics for now. Old school capitulates to hi tech I have 4 lenses for my minolta but haven't bought a roll of film in 5 years. with winder flash batteries and long lens it probably weighs 3-4 lbs. Some peeps reading this will wonder what an slr and film are.

POSE A FUZZ?!?! Well, sir, there's your problem! It's IMPOSSIBLE to pose a fuzz! EXACTLY! It's like herding cats. I use ferretone sparingly (see siggy), but all you get then is the top of their heads

EXACTLY! It's like herding cats. If you ever learn the art, make sure you pass on the wisdom! Off-topic: your new avatar looks just like my Casper! Beautiful Pandora!

Wow! She's a big girl. Casper is only 2 lb, 14 oz. He's gonna need some more meatz to catch up with her. I'm sure that would suit him just fine! Does she lose much for summer? Here's Casper right after we brought him home.

The lowest I have her is 2 3/4 lb inOctober last year. She was close to 3 lb when we got her at 7 months. She hovers around 3 lb. Jaffa is big (private bred, late alter), but my other 2 boys are under 3 lb. Casper is beautiful. Funny thing, my 3 boys are sables and my 5 girls are mostly white.

It is funny that your bunch is sorted by color. I was just noticing that in your signature picture (which I LOVE). I wanted a really big guy, but my biggest is 3 lb 3 ounces. He feels so solid and tough. My little ones feel fragile. The smallest is Minnie the Menace at 1 lb 8 ounces. She's little but she's a dynamo!
