Wow! Bella is HUNGRY this morning!! lol I love it! In 3.5 hours she has eaten 2.3oz! She is even chewing on chunks! I added some rabbit to their soupie and those are the chunks she's eating. And the day is still young! She's going to have a great day today for intake!

Go Bella go! How's Mia doing? Rabbit is one of Remus' favorites, too.

I have a question about Bella's medication. I've been giving it to her at 5am and 5pm,but this early wake up is catching up to me.
What time do you think would be a good time. I need to start getting full night's sleep.
I'm thinking 8am and 8pm?

That should be fine, as long as they're roughly 12 hours apart. But instead of making an abrupt switch I would go to 6a and 6p for a few days, then 7a and 7p, then 8a and 8p. You don't want to jar her system too much.

I gave it to her at 7 tonight. I'm thinking about setting up a camera that could link to my cell phone and I could check to make sure she ate without leaving my bed, that way I could go right back to sleep. I have fibromyalgia so breaking up my sleep is not good, but I'll do anything for my baby ?

That is a really good idea! But it would have to be a night vision camera, or maybe be connected to a light as well. It's not very good for them to have 24/7 light.

By 'connected to a light' I mean you could turn on the cage camera and the light at the same time.

That's right I didn't think of the light issue. Darn! On average, Bella eats every 3 hours sometimes earlier. I'm just always so worried about her.

Hello Rachel, I have tagged you in my thread called Bella's Insulinoma Journey. I shared both girls' weight and BG. I also shared a couple of pics there. I cut up some chicken pieces today...here is a pic of the size we are at....

That stinks that her BG is back down again! But I'm glad her energy and appetite are still doing well. You have another vet appointment soon to adjust her dosage, right? When is that? It's a little hard to tell just how big your pieces are from the picture, because there's nothing to compare them to. Pea sized? Larger than that? Are you still mixing them into soup or is soup out of the equation at this point?

I know I was quite disappointed! She is eating like a little piglet and is much more feisty lol I don't have a vet appt but I do have to see her once this round of meds are done. The pieces of chicken are slightly bigger than a pea. I'm still mixing in soupie because Bella is not fond of the chicken pieces, but I'm not giving up! I just took her BG because I think the time that it was 41.4 (2.3) I had taken at this time of day. I'm happy to report that it has gone up!! She is now at 45mg/dl (2.5) I'm going to make sure that I take it at the same time every week. Her intake is great again today, so far since 5:30am she has eaten 3.1oz! Woot! and Mia has taken in 2.3oz! They both got baths today because they were both scratching quite a bit. I know itchiness is part of Bella's condition, but it was extra. So I gave them both a bath in a shampoo that has aloe vera in it. I also washed all their stuff in water and vinegar through my washer because I think Tide irritates their skin. They also got 1/8 of tsp of EVOO, they loved it! Here is Bella in her bath a while ago.... And Mia....

Have you seen Bella eat any of the pieces? As long as you know she recognizes them as food you're good to switch to just solid pieces--if you let her get away with it she'll eat soup and avoid pieces forever!

I have not seen her eat any pieces...I did read earlier that we could scruff them and put the piece in their mouths, without forcing her of course, so I will try that tomorrow.
The last couple of days I've noticed that Mia is going like 6 hours between some of her meals. She is still eating 3-4oz per day. Should I be concerned?

Does her energy level still seem okay? Remus does alright going 6 hours or longer between meals but his BG is more well controlled than Bella's.
