So I had previously thought I'd be adopting one ferret a while back, but the owner sold him to someone else. Well, today I just picked up my first official ferret from a family who needed to give him a new home. He's 7 months old, absolutely ADORABLE and immediately wanted snuggles with me (sweetest and CUTEST thing ever). I already love him! And I believe I will be renaming him T'ankupe, aka "Tanka." He apparently approves as he responded by looking at me when I called "Tanka." I can't wait to switch him to raw and have my healthy little guy! I will upload pictures as soon as I figure out how to from my phone. =)

Enjoy your new baby! I dont know if this is your first ferret, but watch out for rubber on everything! Like, soft grips on inkpens suitcase handles, pencil erasers, ear plugs, non skid water and food bowls--if rubber is around, they will find it eventually. |

What is his food dish made out of? It's one of the plastic ones that just sits in a hole in the level in the cage. He just picks it up, carries it around, and stashes it in the bottom corner of his cage lol. I'm getting him one that attaches to the side of the cage today. As well as a water bowl to do the same. (I wasn't sure what stuff was coming with him, since he was a Craigslist baby, so I couldn't pick up much beforehand since he was supposedly coming with everything.) He actually had almost nothing, and it made me sad to see how little he had. But he's a very sweet boy and loves running around my room. He's getting all sorts of stuff today - a hammock, tunnel, play cube, harness, collar, and anything else I can find. Lol. He's also going to be switched over to raw. =] |

Haha Luck boy! I was going to suggest a lock crock or a heavy ceramic dish. Just make sure it doesn't have a rubber rim. |
