so i have a piece of glass as my baby gate right now.. It was from a coffee table that we no longer use.. Only its too short.. So when Mimi wants to, she'll jump and pulll herself right over... Well she has been so good being out today, that i got distracted with something.. all of a sudden its quiet.. YUPPP sure thing, MM is out of the living room and MIA in the house!!!! Well after a while it didnt take long to hear where she was and find her.. but jeeze!!!
So i got wise.. and added a second piece to the gate!!!
The speaker and the cage is holding up the glass lol

I use an playpen for a gate to keep the fuzz butts out of my kitchen and my Loki now knows how to pull it open with his mouth. So after the holidays I will have to think of something else. I used to use the cardboard bottom to a crib because it fit perfectly in the space I needed and was too high for Loki to jump.
Climbing gates, cages, boxes and barriers are just a challenge that mus be met by wee fuzzums. This was a double gate set up to keep the ferrets out of the office. It didn't offer much of a challenge at all {sigh} ciao
Yea, my Mimi is a climber... She climbed up to the top of her cage on the outside... and couldnt get out. She gave me the Oh crap what do i do now look... Lol
But so far so good with the makeshift gate. lol
but for some reason she couldnt figure out that she has nothing to grab on to climb on after i added the cardboard. goof ball.
Lol! I tried all kinds of things too. I used the panels we removed from the inside of their fn stacked them and put cardboard so bonnie couldn't escape. Everyday no matter what she got out. Even tried a wood panel at the top I have no idea how but she still got out. The baby gate solved it all.
lol we had a normal baby gate and then hubby thought it would be a fun idea to teach slyiet that he could climb. learned after the first try. hubby fixed it by putting plexiglass over one side of the baby gate. havent had a single escape since, and it still looks nice as far as baby gates go
We use the playpen as a gate to keep out of kitchen area, but Indy has learned to pull the gate close enough to dig box then jump from box to gate (smart little butt..). We have to use a bungie cord and hook it from gate to a stair bannister to keep everything taught so he can't pull it lol.
Ty's my climber and we have a baby gate closing off the upstairs. Well he scales it lightening fast BUT my husband had the idea to tilt it out a little at the top and he can't climb it anymore. Ever once and a while he give it a go but quickly gives up. 1 point for the ferrets 0 for ferts
I have no climbers anymore. My waardies don't seem to like heights. Moqwai is the only one That probably could climb, but so far he is not really interested. Cassia is too small.
I think the gate I ordered will work fine with my current group. Hammie would jump clear over a marshal's playpen or at least jump and grab the top edge and pull his but over. Since he has been gone there is no one to teach the others.
I know i'd kick that glass trying to step over in and bust it in a million pieces. The thought of it scares me.
Its super funny you say that, cause before i had the cardboard, the dogs would jump over it.... If they knew it was there.. However... if one is in the bedroom when i set up the glass, then comes running into the room.. SMACK!!! its sooo funny.. Mean.. but funny!
