Do you think whatever it was could've lost its color while in her system? Idk if that's even possible or not, but maybe it'll help you figure out what it was. I'm so glad she's okay!! I hope you both get some well-needed rest tonight, treat yourself to some hot cocoa or tea

It is possible, although maybe not for everything when my little one decided to eat some carpet backing it came out a different colour and texture after its GI journey. I could only just make out what it was! So glad your both ok! Wishing her a speedy recovery

Thanks guys bitbyter I asked if he had saved whatever it was and he said "no... it was disgusting!" Well yeah, I'm sure, but it still could have helped! @elenners I'm sure it could have changed color, especially to gray. And retrospectively, it had been going on for quite a while. She had been getting skinnier at the haunches and her belly rounder. I didn't think it looked right for winter weight. I just gave her her first series of medications (4!) and we are both completely traumatized. The first thing she did when I let her go was stick her head into the litterbox. Which made me think -- could this have been caused by her ingesting some World's Best Cat Litter?? It is gritty. I guess this means I'm going to have to switch, which makes me not happy at all. I loved WBCL.

Just reading this now, so glad everything is working out with your little one, what a scare! I've been really lucky with blockages, I have had ferrets for about 18 years and never a blockage scare or surgery, knock on wood!

Thanks lefertmama, and yeah, I'm still somewhat in disbelief! I've only had Maisie (my first pet ever) for 5 months and she's not in the slightest bit a chewer. The evening meds administration went a little smoother, since I decided I had to bite the bullet: burrito-wrap AND scruff her. I had a couple of shots of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur beforehand -- chocolate and alcohol in one tidy package. I really needed it. Maisie got lots of Ferretone which she doesn't get anymore since we've switched to salmon oil. Only 13 days left... Oh god I can hear her digging away in the litter. She is NOT happy with the prescribed cage rest.

yes they definitely don't like to be contained for long, especially when they are used to being out I use Hardwood woodstove pellets for litter, it works great for odour control, only costs about $6 for a 40lb bag and when wet it turns into fluffy sawdust. Just make sure if you go to pellets that it is Hardwood.
