Just wondering bc I've been adding extra to the meals bc their poops have been loose. It s worked great firming them up but I want to make sure I'm not going to hurt them.

Yes, if you notice straining to poop or pebbly/dry poop ease back.

Absolutely, it can cause constipation and hypercalcemia if fed in large amounts over a long period of time.

Agree with the others, just watch their poops and make sure they aren't getting hard or making them constipated, but other than that it's fine

No constipation at all. I have been watching out for that. They were just really loose..like runny loose but since I've upped the BM it seems to have helped a lot, well resolve the issue really. I just thought I should ask to be on the safe side. I didn't find much on the web relating to too much BM.
Thank you all very much for answering. I'm going to look up hypercalcemia now.

The danger of hypercalcemia is pretty slim but worth mentioning. When eating bone in meats they can basically regulate how much bone they eat. When you are directly adding it to their diet in a way they cannot avoid, YOU have to be the one to regulate it. Just something to be aware of, that's all. Also, if you are new to raw, keep in mind that generally only whole prey poops look similar to kibble poops. You really do have to banish what a kibble poop looks like from your mind when you switch to raw. All it does is cause stress

bitbyter yes, I'm switching them to frankenprey diet and I am on day 40 something of the switch. They've been off kibble since the first day of the switch. All of their poos were just so runny but since I've upped the BM they've been much better. Solid but seedy. I am still searching as to why they are seedy. I cut back on some of the skin to see if that made a difference and it did slightly but they are still seedy. They are eating dime size chicken chunks at the moment except for Charlie who is still on soupie.

Is it similar to eggshell powder? 1/2 tsp per 8oz of meat? I haven't used bonemeal powder before and this would be a good teaching moment for a New Mentor. (shy)

Yep, same amounts. Bone meal is a little more "complete" than egg shell I believe.

Bone meal for humans generally isn't raw though, so it may be a bit less healthy than raw bone.
