I have a ferret, his name is Leeroy; About a week ago leeroy wasn't doing so well, he had become really lethargic, lost his appetite, and just looked overall worn down just overnight, I had taken him to a vet and they had to put him into an ER because fluid was making its way into his lungs and he was having difficulty breathing, Fortunately the vet was able to stabilize him and get him feeling a bit better; After an x-ray, blood work, and a cardiac echo they had learned that leeroy has a right lung lobe mass and have done an FNA to see what kind of mass it is and to see if surgery is an option to remove it, I am shocked considering he is only 1 year & 6 months old and theres nothing I can really be certain about until that test comes back in about 2 - 3 days. They have ruled out lymphoma since its not in the right location & its not in a circular pattern its more scattered along the right side, but its actually pushed his heart a little bit out of place.
My question has anyone else had similar diagnosis in a ferret and what did it turn out to be in the end? Any ideas from veteran ferret owners?

I have't had any with lung issues other than a case of pneumonia. I Hope it's treatable.

I lost one to a displaced heart due to a lymphoma mass so similar but different. I hope they can do something. I'm not sure if ferrets can survive with just one lung like we can.

It was lymphoma it turns out, it had spread somewhere from the originating point of the spine and wrapped its way around towards the right side of his body; Since it was near the spine there was nothing more they could do, even with the regular mass once it was deemed lymphoma. He had been in the state for 2 weeks while we ran all the test , still keeping attached to hope and then we were informed of it on Monday when it was worsened; They prescribed some pain meds & a steroid to try and reduce it for a couple days while we said our final goodbyes, we were planning on Saturday to have a little more time with our baby but, today he wasn't doing too well, I could tell that he was done, we took him to the vet to get put to rest; RIP Leeroy. Thanks for your support.
