With Bonfire night fast approaching here in the UK (I'm on Guy Fawkes side) What are Ferrets like with fireworks?
I know of dogs and cats who have hated them or on the other end not been bothered by them. I'm assuming ferrets can dislike them, what are the best ways to keep Percy "safe" if he does take a disliking?

I would leave him at home. It's always tempting to bring animals to big events like that but there's so much risk for the animals, especially something as small as a ferret. There's a good chance he won't like fireworks, he could slip his harness and get lost, if he's on the ground there's the risk of him being stepped on or attacked by someone else's animal, etc etc etc. Even if you're holding him, there are likely other people there who are just plain stupid and will walk up and start petting him without asking, which could get them nipped or him sick. I had Remus in my arms at a farmer's market once and someone PICKED UP her terrier and tried to hold them nose to nose without even saying anything to me. If I DO take Remus out now (to Petsmart or to a farmer's market, things like that) he stays in his carrier that has a shoulder strap. That way he can see and smell everything and there's much less risk to him from other animals and people.

Do not take your little one to Guy Fawlkes celebrations, same as would not take your kitties and dogs. If you mean that he's outdoors and you're concerned, perhaps for that night he could be brought inside and placed in a travelling cage until the night is over. I find that my ferrets are not troubled by the fireworks here but I'm not in the thick of things. I would definitely be more concerned if they were outside and I couldn't keep an eye on them to see if they were distressed ciao

OP never specified, but I'm curious about how to keep them comfortable specifically at home?
12 yr old golden retriever Goldie will try to burrow under couches, end tables, beds, anything, if you don't sit and coo at her and pet her during thunderstorms/fireworks/etc- is there much you can do for ferrets aside from coddle them?

I would dose them up with some Rescue Remedy and just keep an eye on them. Fireworks will start going off next weekend and get worse the first week of November then they die down a little but often are randomly set off until after New Years. It wouldn't be practical or enjoyable for some ferrets to be brought in every night, but if you have space and they are okay with it then I would advise to do that too. The Rescue Remedy can be added to their water and they can be on it for months or you can slowly wean them off and see if they are still calm about the fireworks.

In Florida, we lived on the water and the Fireworks were very close. They frightened Ponce. Here in Tennessee, we have some big storms and Wynstan gets frightened by Thunder.
Happy Guy Fawkes day and I would leave him at home, maybe with the TV on, to cover up the noises.

Goldie might like the Doggie Thunder Shirt. They are suppose to be really helpful to calm dogs down, and I know dog owners who swear by them. Petco sells them and so does Target: www.petco.com/product/115133/Thundershirt-Heather-Gray-Dog-Anxiety-Solution.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch

Oh God I would never dream of taking an animal of any sort to any display, place with lots of people!
I was simply asking about in the evening when they are all going of and I'm trying to watch TV or do other mundane things... Just trying to figure out if he will be scared or not and what to expect!
So it can go either way, like all things.
abbeytheferret6 Guy Fawkes (13 April 1570 – 31 January 1606) was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Basically along with a few others they planned to assassinate King James I and restore a Catholic monarch to the throne by blowing up houses of Parliament, alas they got caught and well hung for treason. We celebrate the fact the plot failed. I however wonder how many people celebrate the fact they tried!
That's the jest of it all, have a google.

Ooh good to know! I think RR is a good idea, and you could try desensitizing him by playing firework videos on your computer and gradually increasing the volume, maybe?

And come the night if you can leave a radio or tv on and curtains closed (if he is indoors). If he is outdoors just try to shield him on what you expect to be the busiest nights.

Funny thing... There's fireworks going on outside right now...
His stopped drinking my tea and has walked to the window to sniff/hear better, he's now by the window (on the floor) trying to figure out what the noise is...
Tv is on, windows are closed, curtains are also closed
Oh he's just got bored and is checking every thing is as he left it! I swear Ferrets have OCD!
Now he's back to my tea cup...
I think he will be ok! To stay indoors, not go watch them!
Thank you everyone
