Tinker is my little Waardie and he does some weird stuff. He seems really smart about somethings (using leverage to move the playpen/gate to get out). But most of the time he's kinda not so smart. Here's a list of some stuff Tinker does and I thought any of you guys with Waardies might want to contribute with weird stuff your ferret does that may or may not be related to Waardenberg Syndrome.
-Will lay flat on his belly and stare. We call it 'sad sausage-ing'. -Fight with his water bottle. -Move a corner litterbox and then poop where it was. -Hiss at me when I walk by. Only me, not ferret-dad. -He pez-heads when he's held. -He will zone out in the middle of something and stare. -He gets really mad at ice. We will fill a cat litterbox with water and ice and he almost neurotically wants it out, and when I put ice back in he hisses. -When we first got him he insisted on going into the fireplace so we had to put a corkboard up in it so he can't get in. -He HATES metal bars. Even when we gave him free roam of the whole apartment for a bit, we folded up the playpen gate and put it in a corner and he went out of his way to hiss at it and pull at it with his teeth. -He screams in his sleep sometimes. -He has the shortest attention-span of any animal or person I've ever seen.

My Juliet is deaf (and blind, and has adrenal and insulinoma) and she lays on her back a lot. A lot of ferts move the litter box and poop behind it, my Caillou does.. arghh. Juliet does the pez-head thing ALL the time, like every time I pick her up. I hear Waardies are so very sweet, lucky

Wow that sounds like taz he is my first special boy. But he has calmed down a lot children aren't chasing him now he is deaf so I could see where that would make a ferret crazy.
My taz
Does the pez head all the time dead ferret sleeps to the point it scares me sometimes has a beef with the bottom of feet if you sit on the floor he digs only the bottom of your feet if you shirt isn't long enough he moves it and digs to try to get in your pants only ferret I have that failed water bowl boot camp (he actually dug a gallon out and ruined the floor in one spot) he hates ice in the water too and will get it out Only ferrrt that plays swing the ferret he jumps about knee high and you bend down he wants you the catch him then gently swing him back down loud dooker but it's adorable he had cage rage from before we got him and broke a fang he is so full of energy.
I thought wardies were supposed to be super sweet? Taz is sweet when he wants attention climbs up my back when I'm sitting down and plays with my hair. But other than the few times he wants it it's super speed ferret.

Pepe is my sweet Waardy boy. He certainly does some of the stuff you guys are describing, especially the stubbornness with certain things and he is my biggest boy so he can 'strong-will' his way into anything. And will not stop until he does. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the ice thing, but I will have to try a litter pan with it, maybe he will then. He is my sweet boy though, when he wants cuddles, he will sit for 30 mins just letting me massage him. If he isn't in the mood though, he's outa there. He is a defey too, but not too vocal. He hisses a lot more than my other male, but not nearly as much as my lil girl. He does flat ferret a lot (which always makes me nervous) but I am convinced it's his way of thinking up what he wants to get into next because he goes from that to a 'run' towards his next adventure. Oh and one things not mentioned yet is Pee-Belly, he CONSTANTLY has pee-belly. Luckily a quick wipe with a baby wipe usually clears that up.

Pee-belly! I didn't know that was a thing, Tinker always has some weird wet spot on him when we wake him up in the morning. Sometimes his belly sometimes his back (?), sometimes his leg. I guess it's from his nighttime adventures in his cage or something. He's pretty stinky cause of that though.

Tinker is so darn cute. How old is he? I looked thru your threads and didn't see his age.
Several of his behaviors seem like regular ferret behavior. My Mika is a big hisser. She learned to hiss and she likes it. She hisses alot and even will hiss, when she is inviting the others to play.
Pez Head is something all of mine do.
Moving the litter box and then pooping behind it, seems to be something alot of them do.
He sounds like an adorable big personality with alot of character. Is he a tail wagger?

I guess non-waardy's can get it too. Pepe has is also because he is chunky (less so these days..) and so when he pee's his belly drags and it gets all over lol I sapose a chunky NON-waardy could get it too, but our special ones seem to be... lazier and therefore more prone. lol

He's about 13-14 weeks. He was born somewhere between July 1st and July 7th because Marshall doesn't really tell you. I'm going to assume he won't mind a birthday week though.Yeah, wasn't sure if some of those were Waardie behaviors or 'normal' ferret behaviors. He's not a tail-wagger, but he seems the type. He does have a great personality. Is Mika a Waardie? I wonder what is up with them and hissing...I guess it's cause they are usually deaf and don't quite know the right time to make certain noises cause they can't hear when others do..

Typically def ones, waardy or not, tend to be more vocal. This seems to be what others post anyhow. My def is the least vocal really. And yes, it is likely because they can not hear what they are 'saying' lol

No, Mika is not a Waardy. She's not deaf, she just likes to Hiss and she is very good at it. (giggle) I almost think Wynstan could be, he's so darn goofy. But he doesn't have the physical characteristics. Keller is deaf and she hisses, but she also screeches and screams and doesn't like other ferrets to touch her. She is slowly coming around. I asked how old he was, because you mentioned staring into space and spacing out. He is too young, but I was worried about Insulinoma. The staring into space and sort of blanking out is a symptom. Happily, you don't have to worry about that. I bet he'll turn into a tail wagger, he's young yet and hasn't learned how. But all that personality has to come out of him somehow, somewhere. (dance) We need a tail wagging emoticon.

My Linus is a waardie and deaf which I figured out here in the forum. I knew he looked special when I found him but had no idea there was actually a word for it. He's not vocal at all. He's big, strong and stubborn. When my other 2 want into something they get Linus to open it. It's funny how they all line up behind him and wait to get in. If you pick him up and rock or sway he'll stay there forever. Such a sweetie. He waddles like Charlie Chaplin, adorable. He LOVES water and is always trying to get in the tub or join you in the shower. What's pez head?
