I have a fur baby that has lost hair on her tail. It looks like she has all kinds of like blackheads on her tail. I've heard some say this is normal and happens at the change of season and that the hair should grow back. Is this true? Or I would like others opinions that may know a little bit more or have experience with such a thing. Thanks ahead of time.

Someone else just had this problem and I do believe its a seasonal thing and should correct itself.

If your seeing blackheads then it is just rat tail. Some people try to wash the tail to clear the follicles but it will grow back without washing.

Rat tail is common at seasonal changes. Keep a close eye on it though. If it begins at the base of the tail, instead of the tip. If there is hair loss on belly and hips. If the rat tail doesn't fix itself after the shed, even if there doesn't appear to be other hair loss. Age (unless we're talking kits) is irrelevant. The earliest adrenal ferret that I know of is 9 months. Photos can sometimes help ease fears. ciao
