So I don't know whats with my ferrets and poop but I have another problem with poop (headwall) Its Lily this time. We have switched them over to a raw diet and at first Rose had a bit of yellow because of the new food , but Lily was fine. Now Lily has very strange poop. I have looked at poop charts and cant find anything like it! If you were to look at it it looks like wet clay (I don't have a pic because I cleaned it all up) and smells HORRID. It smells really bad ( but im sure it could smell worse) I will keep watching her to see if anything else happens or if she has any more weird poops...... I just hope its the new food
Other info- 2 years old Sleeps, eats, drinks and plays 24/7
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I get way to worried!

UPDATE- 10 minutes later she pooped a bit of yellow (That's most likely just the raw meat transition)

You've had the girls for over a month now, right? Rosie was skinny and had dry skin, and Lily was healthier looking. Did the girls have a vet visit?
You've also been switching the girls, did they have some kibble at the same time as they had raw or close to it? What did they eat for their last meal?
On a switch, you will get some weird colored poops. What concerns me is the smell. If Lily is still having smelly Poops, I would take her to the vet. She might need some antibiotics.
If you can post some pictures of the poop, that would help. How do her ears and paws look, are they nice and pink?

Yes, rose has gained some weight and her fur is getting very nice and soft ( and no longer has dry skin ) I didn't have a vet visit because the lady we got them from took them before we got them and there was no problems. Yesterday they did find my cats kibble and ate that (you can blame my dad) but only ate a few pieces . Their last meal was Chicken livers+eggshell powder+minced beef+water. I will get Lily up in a second I just have to find her today was their day to run around (most of) the house so I just gotta look for her lol

chicken liver + minced beef.. that's the culprit. Blood-rich meals cause dark, looser, tarry-looking poops. The eggshell would have firmed it up to the clay-like consistency. You'll eventually get used to the strange poops raw-fed ferrets put out, but until you do it is very unnerving. The smell could still be from detox (how long have they been on raw?), or it could be a bacterial overload, or it could just be the organ poop smell. My kids' organ poops smell completely different than any of their others.

Also, be careful of them eating the kitty's kibble and then eating raw. We always tell new ferrents to keep some time between kibble and raw. That can lead to a bacterial overgrowth. I'm not saying that's what the poops are from, just giving you a Heads Up. GFountain gave you very good advice.

2-3 days = beginning of detox. Poops are extremely stinky during detox due to their bodies purging out all the chemicals and crap in the kibble. Expect it to get worse before it gets better... sorry. My little girl exuded kibble odor from every pore in her body for several weeks. My entire house reeked! But once she was done with detox, she began smelling like honeysuckle and grape koolaid. Now her poop still stinks, because well, it's poop. But the smell dissipates within a couple of minutes. My computer desk is literally right beside the cage with the most often used litter box, and I can't smell it.

Okay good! I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong.... and that does explain why they smelled so funny!
