So I was searching on Craigslist for a Ferret Nation and look what I found... two poor little guys that are 'under a year' in a ferret nation 142 cage with two hammocks and nothing else... not a toy... not a blanket... one corner litter box and a lock on crock. The dark sable has extremely long nails... they curl under the pan of the FN. The other guy doesn't look too bad but he's also in a hammock. The cage looks disgusting. I text the number she provided and asked some details. She didn't seem to tell me much but she wants $300 for it all. I can't afford $300... my husband was willing to pay $100 for the FN cage. He was considering paying $150 for this other cage I found but he really doesn't want us to have two more ferrets. I promised him I would rehome them, just foster them for now. I really can't do four ferrets... atleast I don't think so. I'll provide what she told me, and the pictures she provided. Anyone have any tips? The ad: I have two male ferrets. Both under a year old. Very loving and playfull. Must stay together. They come with a multi level ferret nation cage ($270 dollar cage). Cell....-------. No spam calls. No B.S... I edited out her number.

Poor babies, the one in the top picture looks sad. With the way they look and the way the cage looks she would be lucky to get $150. Watch out they might have medical problems. Thats one thing that scares me about people getting rid of their animals, is that they might be getting rid of them because they have an issue with the animal. I would know, I work in a pet store and see this a couple times a week.

"No BS"!?! I should hope not: the ferrets have had enough of that with the present hominids

Any shelters in the area? Maybe you could contact one within a reasonable range and let them know about the conditions. I hate seeing babies like that ;(

We have one two hours away. I really don't want to dump more on them. I don't think that girl is going to let them go for less than $300...

Oh my is it just me or do those ferrets look really sick and unhappy I hope you're able to figure something out to get them to a good home. Maybe give it a week? People are usually very impatient and when she gets no offers (I doubt she will, the ferrets look awful and that's quite expensive for what she's offering) she might get impatient and lower the price?

That's what I'm hoping I offered $200. I don't even know what my husband will say, I didn't even ask him. They need out of there. I'll figure some way.

Offer her $150 cash, next day removal. Often they will jump at it. If not you tried. It means that you paid $150 for the cage. You can probably rehome the little ones at $100 for the pair if you like afterwards...so you paid $50 for the ferret nation. I've done it myself...just to get little ones out of a bad situation ciao

Poor babies! Not even a toy or a nice big bed or blankies to call their own? That is so sad. Mine have enough toys or me to rotate them every day of the week and still have a ton left over, and I still stress about them not having enough. I hope things go well for them-I hope she accepts your offer.

Ugh humans truly are a disgusting bunch. The poor sable looks like he hasn't dooked in years; that's a broken spirit. I commend you for wanting to rescue these babies, but do remember that you can't rescue them all. Do NOT beat yourself up if this doesn't come through.

I know I can't rescue them all as much as I want to. These two are just calling to me. I'm still waiting for a response it is only 8 am.

I will. Still haven't heard anything I'm going to send her a text in about 45 mins, hope she responds. If she agrees I'll be picking them up today, and having to deal with my husband. He doesn't know yet about the possibility of me picking up the ferrets too. He thinks we're just taking the cage, but I can't leave them... I told them the lady was trying to home the ferrets with the cage. I think I can convince him that I'll foster them till I feel comfortable re-homing them.
