I went to Wegmans last night and looked at their package of chicken gizzards and hearts. I could see just by looking through the wrapping that each one had multiple hearts in it. So I grabbed three packs. The first one I opened had 15 medium to large chicken hearts!!!
15!!!
I did a happy dance all over my apartment. Just wanted to share my find with those that might be close to their own Wegmans. Each pack was only about $2.45 each.

Yay! I have to buy those darn tyson packs too, one time I didn't get any hearts at all, usually I only get 1-3. One time I got 12 hearts though, I also did a happy dance! Haha
I have 5 gallon sized zip-lock bags full of chicken gizzards.. anyone wanna come take them from me? LOL

In the mixed gizzard/heart packs, are the hearts just the solid colored pieces while the gizzards are both white (inside of the cut?) and red?

These are chicken hearts- These are chicken gizzards- I didn't know which was which when I bought my first pack, I had to google it... (shy) But now they're easy to spot. One time I found TWO chicken hearts in a tyson chicken liver container...! LOL I was so surprised, and they were good sized hearts too.

In the tyson packs sometimes you won't even get any hearts, but usually it's just 1-3 (in my case) on rare occasions you get 5+

Yeah for finding Hearts. (dance)
Everyone eats so much chicken, it's in stores and restaurants and everywhere. Why are the Hearts so hard to find?
Happily you now have a good source. Yippeeeeee... :wave2:

I googled what chicken hearts look like when I started this venture too.

@julesalot @poncesmom @sherry katt Heather gfountainHey guys...I've looked everywhere, I live in freakin' CHICAGO, but I cannot for the life of me, find chicken hearts or any exotic meat in bulk etc. There has to be somewhere, do you guys know of any place in Chicago? (headwall) AND I live near Chinatown, and they don't have them either!! (Sorry for posting in your thread but I didn't want to create a new one.)

Asian markets are usually a great source. I'm surprised that you can't find any in Chinatown. Geez.
Some Ferrents end up ordering from HareToday.com or MyPetCarnivore.com. The problem lies in shipping costs.
Also, call some local butchers. I found one that would place an order with a chicken farmer for me. That's what I did for the first order, then I found an Asian Market in Nashville. I would suggest that you call some, but sometimes there is a language barrier on the floor.
Good Luck :wave2:

Ordering from a commercial raw provider such as HareToday or MyPetCarnivore is another option. If you have trouble finding hearts you definitely need to always have some taurine on hand. Also look for beef tongue. Unfortunately while it is a lot for the mixed package, when it comes to the overall diet 15 hearts really isn't very many. :/ They need a meal and a half each week of hearts. With only 15 hearts per pack of gizzard if you are buying enough to get enough heart you are quickly going to accumulate a LOT of excess gizzards. Try googling local butchers, Asian matkets, ethnic markets, and halal markets. Beef tongue is an acceptable substitute for heart if needed as well. Lots of people like tongue sandwiches so maybe that will be easier to find if you still can't find Enough hearts.

Okay so after driving around alllll day yesterday checking out meat shops (none carried the hearts, and some stared at me like I was crazy when I asked, some said to order in advance) I finally found some at the asian market! I had to ask though and they said they have no bar code for it, but I got some!
