Hey all! Remus is having surgery later this morning--removing a dead canine tooth--and I just wanted to start a thread in case I have any questions or concerns during and after. I'm dropping him off at 9:30 and I'll let everyone know how it went as soon as I know.

Thanks! I just dropped him off. I made sure he had lots of blankies and a bed from home. He'll be there overnight as I work a 12 tonight and wouldn't be able to monitor him like I'd want to. But the vet will call when he's done and let me know how it went

Remus is recovering now, the vet said the surgery went fine. He said the tooth wasn't looking inflamed yet but the surrounding bone had been starting to--perhaps from the tooth moving around in it's bed? He also said the staff kept complimenting Remus' coat and his remaining teeth, and said he knows it's likely the natural diet at work.

I'm glad he's doing well. And I'm glad you were able to do something about it before it was too late.

Happy he's recovering good, they're all groggy for a little bit after then they're all jumpy the next day. Sounds like they got it just in time, that's great. And I'm very glad to hear that your Vet acknowledged the greatness of a raw diet.

I'm glad to hear that his surgery went without a hitch. Watch him when he's eating the first little while as canines often hold the lip away from the other canine and the remaining tooth will sometimes cut the lip ciao

They said he ate well last night and this morning. Sent me home with pain meds. He's supposed to take it easy for a couple of days but he is SO antsy!

Haha I know how that is. I got there 15 minutes before they got there when I dropped Juliet off for her surgery. Did the same with Neichei too, she didn't actually have a surgery once they realized she didn't need it , but before I knew that I was crying because I was so nervous for her. I skipped school when both of them went in... I can't help it, I love them little buggers!

Yeah, it definitely wasn't fun worrying about him all night. I feel guilty asking this, but should I halve his pain meds, or maybe even skip them? I've read that doing that can help make sure the animal rests the way they should, and this morning he was already gnawing on cage bars, making my nervous...
