Last year for our anniversary, my husband decided it was finally time for me to have my long-awaited ferret. We decided to get a kit because I wanted my first ferret to be young and healthy so I would have 'ferret experience' before bringing home a rescue. Hubby, daughter, and I walked into a pet shop and this little guy took one look at my daughter and said "I'm going home with her!" His eyes locked on her the moment we walked in the door and he dooked and danced and literally tried to climb the glass walls of the cage to get to her. When we got him out of the cage, Slinkee climbed from one to the other of us, kissing and nuzzling and informing us in no uncertain terms that he belonged with us. How could we say no?!
Here he is with his girl and his little sister, Minnie the Menace.
The girl left us for college a few weeks ago. These pictures were taken on the Wednesday before 'move-in Friday'. When we left home on Friday morning, this is what Minnie looked like. It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but she has 'Cruella de'Ville whiskers', lol... one side is half white, the rest are black.
Minnie changed clothes while we were gone... This is what she looked like Sunday evening when we got home.
Her beautiful gray undercoat turned golden, and now 3 weeks or so later, it's turned snow white with stark black guard hairs. But there are no more pictures because like my 2 year old niece who says 'no, no pictures GG' and shakes her precocious little head, Minnie sees me with a camera and says 'no, no pitchurz mommee' and runs the other way. Slinkee on the other hand has turned into an attention hog and sticks his precious mug right in the lens so I'll be sure to get him, lol.
It's been an interesting first year to what will be a lifelong journey, because I'm very sure I'm addicted to ferrets!
