Well, I warmed it up and tried to get Juliet to eat some more. She ate a couple spoonfuls, then Caillou came up and is scarfing it down now. So Caillou has had 4.5 oz today, and Juliet has had 0.5.
Why can't she be a pig like Cai? lol (headwall)

So I gave them the all-chicken soupy, Caillou 2 oz, Juliet 2 oz, Caillou ate all of his, and Juliet ate 0.5 oz... I tried to get her to eat more, but she was refusing. So today she's barely had 1 oz.. I'm worried about her now, I'm going to try again later tonight and see if I can get her to eat another ounce or at least another half ounce.. I don't know why she isn't eating at much. It might be because I mixed the ferretone with olive oil, because that's when she started to eat less. That little picky rascal is killing me :pullhair:

This is the hardest part of switching. Try leaving out the ferretone and the oil. If she knows ferretone is coming, she will hold out for it. Let's see what some of the Senior Mentors say about her not eating. We expect them to be picky, but Juliet is Adrenal and I'm not sure of the rules about eating for that.

By leaving out do you mean not give her any?
And yeah if she didn't have adrenal I wouldn't be worrying as much, but I'm trying to get her to gain weight, and I can't have her not eating. I'm on my way to buy another bottle of ferretone, she ate a lot when it was just that. Plus I was almost out anyways.
Senior mentors, where art thou? Haha

Okay I just bought ferretone and salmon/fish oil blend. I wanna try and trick them into eating the salmon oil rather than the ferretone. When I get home I'll see if Juliet will eat more with this.

Alrighty, I thawed the soupy and put a few pumps of salmon oil in it, and a few drops of ferretone in it, and Juliet ate 0.7 oz, so today she has had 1.7 oz of soupy. Good enough I suppose, she refused to have any more than that and I was trying my best to get her to eat more, but she's a feisty thing. She is also getting her implant tomorrow, and her symptoms are coming back. She's been lethargic and maybe she's losing her appetite from it, it isn't actually due for 1 more week or a little longer but I scheduled to get it in 1 week before it's due. And of course, Caillou finished her bowl off, after he inspected the salmon oil, and took one tiny little lick, then thought about it, then chowed down. Cai has had 5 oz of soupy today, that's mamas little trooper, a team player he is. *looks at Juliet" So todays recap- They got this recipe- 8 oz chicken thy 1 oz chicken heart (4 hearts for 1.1 oz.. geez) 1 oz chicken liver 1/2 tsp eggshell powder And blended to a thick consistency. I offered them both 2.5 oz, Caillou ate it all, Juliet ate 0.5 oz. A few hours later, I offered them 2.0 oz, Caillou ate it all, Juliet ate 0.5 oz. Then tonight I offered Juliet 1.6 oz, and she ate 0.7 oz. Caillou also ate 0.5 oz of hers. Juliet hesitated to eat at every offer of food, Caillou sucked it down like he hadn't eaten in weeks. Spoon feeding for Juliet, Cai ate on his own. Of course it had ferretone in it. The last meal had salmon oil and ferretone. Caillou ate 5.0 oz of soupy today Juliet ate 1.7 oz soupy today They're also still trying to decide if they like Salmon oil or not. The poop check- Their litter box is filled with clumped pee, and a few tiny piles of green and brown. Smells awful. I'm proud of them both, but worried about Juliet, I hope maybe she was just not very hungry today, and that she'll eat more tomorrow.

So today was a bit challenging, since Juliet decided to not eat until she got the soup she wanted.
They got this recipe- 8 oz chicken breast 2 chicken hearts 1 oz chicken liver 1/2 tsp eggshell powder
and blended to a milky consistency, which they eat better than the thicker soup. This morning they got the same recipe but chicken thigh instead of breast, and Juliet didn't eat any but Caillou ate 2.0 oz.
then tonight they got the recipe with chicken breast, I fed Caillou first and he ate 3 oz, I also tricked him with mixing salmon oil with the ferretone, and I don't think he noticed. I want to wean them off of the ferretone by using Salmon oil instead, although Juliet isn't really a fan. Caillou also ate big chunk of breast that wasn't pureed in the blender. It was the size of his foot, and he was eating the soupy and got it in his mouth, he dropped it on the shelf and sniffed it, then picked it back up and chewed and ate it. I tried to get him to eat another but he didn't want it, so I wasn't gonna try too hard.
Then I fed Juliet, I had 2.5 oz in the bowl and she ate 1.5 oz, I had to spoon feed about half of it to her, but I was just happy that she ate. She'll eat chunks sorta reluctantly, so they're not quite ready for them but they're getting there.
Litter box is filled with pee and a few poos that are green and brown and small. Still smell like dead animal, but I noticed Caillou's fur is really soft, and he's getting pretty chunky. He's gaining his winter weight and growing his winter coat. Juliet hasn't gained or lost, and she doesn't shed either, her hair has always been super thick and soft. Even with her adrenal.
So, I'm hoping Jules will eat more tomorrow, but she did pretty good today.
Caillou had 5 oz of soup today Juliet had 1.5 oz of soup today

Alrighty, todays scoop-
This morning I fed them the chicken breast soupy, Caillou ate 1.5 oz, he licked the bowl clean. And Juliet ate 1.2 oz, she had leftovers. But I had to rush out so I didn't get to stay and help her by spoon feeding like I usually do.
Tonight I fed Juliet first, I thawed and warmed 1.5 oz of the chicken breast soupy, and then I mixed in 0.5 oz of the chicken thigh soupy in with it. I added some ferretone and salmon oil, and she ate all of it! I had to really try to get her to eat the last bit, but she did, and I'm so proud! She seemed to like the salmon oil, so I'm going to slowly get them off of the ferretone and onto the salmon oil, then onto plain soupy.
Then I fed Caillou, I mixed together the chicken breast soupy with the chicken thigh soupy and God knows how many ounces of what was what because I forgot to weigh it before I mixed it, but it was more chicken breast soup I think. I offered 3 oz of it, I added a ferretone and salmon oil, and also a few slivers of chicken thigh, and he ate all 3 oz of the soupy, he loved the salmon oil, so I may not have to use ferretone for him anymore. He ate about 4-5 slivers, the ones that were bigger he would take to the corner and spit them out, but the other smaller ones he would chew and eat as long as there was soupy or salmon oil on them. Cai doesn't care too much about what kind of meats I use, and he will eat the thicker soups unlike Juliet, so I'm going to move him up and use chicken thigh and thicker soup for him, and try to get him to eat more slivers. Jules will catch up, but I don't want to hold Cai back because he's doing so great.
The litter box is still filled with pee and their poop is tiny and dark brown/green.
Today Juliet has eaten 3.2 oz of soupy Today Caillou has eaten 4.5 oz of soupy (+ 4-5 slivers)
I'll be buying spleen, kidney, quail, and quail eggs sometime next week, and doing a meal plan Poncesmom gave to me, I don't know if Juliet will be up to it but I think Caillou will. I'm also going to see if I can ditch the ferretone and use the salmon oil, I think they may like it more than ferretone anyways.
And a little note- Caillou is becoming pretty darn chunky! And his fur is SO soft, and I also think we've become a bit closer, he lets me give him cuddles more than before. I'm liking this new sweet Cai (giggle)

Todays food log-
This morning I fed Caillou the chicken thigh soupy, he ate 2.0 of it, and I used no ferretone, only Salmon oil. He ate it well, like usual. This evening I fed Caillou the same soupy, except it had slivers of chicken gizzard, and chicken thigh, which he was not at all happy about. He was trying to eat around the chunks, like they were poison or something. He ate 0.8 oz of the soupy.
Then I fed Juliet, I gave her the chicken breast soupy and she would only eat 0.5 even with my holding and spoon feeding her. This evening I fed Juliet the same soupy, she wasn't very into it, she ate 0.8 oz also. I tried so hard to get her to eat more but she made it clear that she didn't want it.. I did have to use ferretone with her.
Litter box is the same as yesterday, pee-filled and tiny brown and green poops.
Today Caillou ate 2.8 oz of soupy Today Juliet ate 1.4 oz of soupy
I'm not that worried that Jules didn't eat a lot today because she ate a lot yesterday (3.2 oz), she might just be like that, eat a lot one day eat a little the next... she's a weird fert. And Cai didn't eat much today either... it may have been because he didn't like the chunks in his soupy, it really upset him, he acted disappointed in me.. lol

Well, I'm pretty sure I accidentally gave Juliet the chicken thigh soupy because I forgot to label the bags and I thawed out 3 bags of soup but she turned her nose up at all of it, she ate 0.3 oz this morning... I'm making another batch of chicken breast soupy tonight and labeling everything. But, Caillou ate 1.0 oz of the same soupy I gave her, I know he likes the chicken breast better but he'll eat any soups, just less if he doesn't like it a lot. These ferrets are killing me, I was so frustrated trying to get the right soup and I couldn't stay and spoon feed Jules because I was already late to pick up my niece so it's safe to say I got a little to mad this morning when I spent 10 minutes cleaning up the stupid walnut based "Blue" brand litter I bought... $17 and more of it is on their bedding and my floor than in the box. But, we'll get there. I know it takes time, I just want Jules to eat more. She's making me a nervous wreck with how little she eats and being adrenal doesn't really help. I have hope that the chicken breast will make everything better

I feel unstoppable right now! I made a new batch of the chicken breast soupy, it was at the consistency of... I'd say tomato soup, I used the drainer to make sure no chicken skin/pieces was in it because they hated that, and I warmed it up, measured 2 oz, and added a few drops of ferretone and following poncesmoms advice I sat on a blanket in the floor with Juliet, and I sat there and spoon fed her. After about 0.5 oz she wanted to run away, but I held her on my lap and kept putting the spoon up to her face. It took about 20 minutes, but she ate ALL 2 OZ!! I have some nasty scratches on my arms, and never have I seen Jules act so mean, but I was being nice to her, I was petting and scratching her and every couple spoonfuls gave her a break and hugged and kisses on her (would've talked sweet more but she's deaf) and it was challenging but we got there, and I am so so proud of her and of myself. The tough love was hard but when I know it's for her well being it made it easier. After she was done with the soupy I gave her a little bitty drop of ferretone and gave her back scratches so she new it was good that she ate that, I did have to use a little less than 1 spoonful of ferretone to get her to eat it (I tried less but she completely refused) but it was a lot less than I was putting in there before. Then I warmed up the same soupy but had 3 oz, got on the floor with Cai, added about 1 - or 1 1/2 pumps of salmon oil to his soup, no ferretone was needed, he tried it all on his own, and after about 1 oz he wanted to go but I was so empowered from Jules so I help him in place and kept spoon feeding him, he ate quite a bit on his own but towards the end needed spoon feeding. When we had about 3-4 spoonfuls left he was getting mad, but I just gave him kisses and scratches and sweet talked to him and continued spoon feeding. When we had just 1 spoonful left his tummy started making this loud weird noise, like a load growl or rolling sound, but it was just one spoonful so I got him to finish it then I gave him a bunch of loves. He laid on the carpet after he was done eating, then went and is curled up in my dogs crate with Juliet sleeping. Poos are the same, runny and green and brown and they are so small, it's crazy how little and how less often they poop now. It makes me happy though because their is nothing they're not digesting, their is very little waste which means more food goes to getting them all fat and cute... hehe I also put 3/4 tsp of eggshell powder in their soupy recipe instead of 1/2 tsp because of how runny the poos are, they aren't solid at all it's like liquid. I know it's from all the oil they're getting, but I'm hoping that will help a little until they're off the oil. I think in a week Caillou won't be needed any salmon oil and should be eating it all on his own, hopefully eating slivers on his own soon too. I am so so so proud of them, and I feel great that I managed to get them to eat that much. I also can't thank poncesmom enough! And all of you that have been helping me, I wouldn't have gotten this far if I didn't have all of this help. And I'm very thankful. Today Juliet ate 2.3 oz soupy Today Caillou ate 4 oz soupy 9-6-14 EDIT: Progress pictures and weight for 1 week mark. Juliet- weight on 8-30-14 was 27.4 oz (1.8 lbs) Juliet- weight on 9-6-14 is 28.6 oz (1.12 lbs) Caillou- weight on 8-30-14 was 51.2 oz (3.2 lbs) Caillou- weight on 9-6-14 is 53.7 oz (3.5 lbs)

Todays log- This morning I fed Juliet first, I thawed and warmed 1.5 oz of chicken breast soupy, sat in the floor with her, added a little ferretone and spoon fed her. She tried to run off after a few spoonfuls but I held her and kept feeding her, and she ate all 1.5 oz. Then I fed Caillou, I gave him 2.0 oz of the same soupy, sat in the floor with him and added a little pump of salmon oil and spoon fed him. He tried to get away when we just had a few spoonfuls left but I got him to eat all 2.0 oz. This evening I fed Juliet first, I thawed out and warmed up chicken breast soupy and a separate bag of chicken thigh soupy. I mixed 1.7 oz of chicken breast soup with 0.3 oz of chicken thigh soup. I sat in the floor with her and all I added was 2 tiny drops of ferretone to a spoonful of the soupy, to get her to start eating, and she ate the rest with no ferretone at all. She got mad and squirmy after about 1 oz but I just held her and gave her short breaks and loves and she finished all 2 oz. I was so proud Then this evening I fed Caillou 2.5 oz of soupy, I forgot to weigh the chicken thigh soupy before I mixed it in but I think it was about 40/60, having more chicken breast soupy than thigh soupy, but not quite a 50/50 mixture. I made sure it was warm and sat in the floor with him, I added 1-2 little drops of salmon oil to a spoonful of soupy to get him started eating, and with a little tough love he ate the rest of the soupy with no salmon oil at all! He did try to run off a few times but I held him and talked nice to him and he ate all the soup, and 2 slivers. Litter box is the same, runny brown and green itty bitty poops. I swear Caillou is getting bigger every day since eating the soup... I actually took body pictures of them and weighed them yesterday but forgot to post them. I have it written down somewhere, I'll post their weight and progress pictures sometime tomorrow. So, we're definitely making progress. I'm going to try to get them to eat the soup with no ferretone or salmon oil, add some slivers, and make the soup thicker, I'll be doing that the next batch I make, probably tomorrow or Tuesday because the batch I make only last about 2 1/2 - 3 days or so. So we will see how all that goes... I'm working on getting Jules over to chicken thigh instead of breast, I'll be mixing more chicken thigh in with every soupy she gets. So far so good though. Today Juliet ate 3.5 oz of soupy Today Caillou ate 4.5 oz of soupy 9-7-14

Hooray! That's good progress. That's alot of soup for both of them.
Like we talked about the Poos are primarily runny from the Oils. You will get some strange poos as they get use to the new foods and during the switch. They will be smaller. When they eat kibble, there is more wasted food, less nutrients digested.

I know I'm so proud of them both In a few days I doubt we will need to use any oils, they only got 1 tiny drop in the first spoonful of soupy today and the rest was without any, so they're definitely making progress (dance)
