Have you gotten a urine sample for the vet yet? I've been discussing the leakage with some of the other mentors. It could be a sign of something serious (fingers crossed that it's not), but one suggested that maybe it's just pee belly from being too tired to get his little chubby tummy up after using the litter box. Does his bedding get wet or just his belly?

I hope he eats it all we'll see how this week goes but I hope there will be no problem. I am so happy to see this menu in good! I haven't gotten the urine sample yet because I need to get it to the vet in max. two hours after peeing, but since I don't live in the city, it's impossible to get it there by bus in this time. So I have to wait till my father has a day off from work and can come pick me up and take me with his car. So we can go on Friday. I hope so much it's not something serious but I am really scared to.. I discovered this when August was sleeping on my lap, he was sleeping on his back and I was just watching him and suddenly saw how a small drop of urine just formed on his belly. Later he woke up and felt that his belly was wet and started licking and cleansing. He seemed kinda confused about it. This happens almost every time during sleeping when I have watched him. I have to wash his bedding often because everything smells after pee wherever he sleeps But I will write to you first thing after the urine sample is taken to the vet and I get some results.

That looks EXCELLENT! And August eats all of that except the bone in the chicken wings, right? I still added chicken wing to his menu, I will either try to cut it lenghtwize like you told me or just blend it up an then he will eat it all.

I needed the goal menu to see how much work we needed to do, but to get him eating those chicken wings we'll need to deviate from the menu for a few days. You don't want to have to constantly be blending up chicken bones, so he needs to learn to eat them.
So set your menu aside for a few days, and let's JUST work on the chicken. He eats the meat with no problem right? So it's not a new protein? Tomorrow (or his next meal), give him the center section of a chicken wing. Cut those bones so he can taste the marrow and hopefully he'll eat them. At the next meal, again ignore the menu and give him another center section of a wing but DON'T cut the bones and see if he eats it. If he does, great; if he doesn't, go ahead and cut them. Just keep giving him the middle section of a wing until he eats them with no problem. If you give in and give him something else easier to eat, he'll learn to hold out for what he wants instead of what he needs. It shouldn't take more than a day or two for him to start eating the middle section easily. Then you'll do the same thing with the largest section, but he may never be able to eat that larger bone without you cutting it. I still have to cut it once for my kids. Don't worry about his diet being balanced for this week. It's more important for him to learn to eat those bones right now. It takes a long time for deficiencies in the diet to become a problem, so just eating chicken wings for a few days won't hurt him and it will teach him to eat the bones.

I gave August the middle section and the largest section too, both bones cut lenghtwize. It seems that August has eaten the middle section, I couldn't find any bone leftovers. But I did find this hidden in his bedding. It's the largest section.

I will try again tomorrow, because I ran out of chicken wings today (my cat loves chicken wings).

Good for August!!! I'm having network problems today so I can't see your picture. My kids don't like to crunch that largest section; they still want me to cut it for them although they COULD crunch it if they wanted to.. silly spoiled fuzzies. Next time you give him a middle section, don't cut the bones and see if he'll eat them.

Good news, August has eaten the middle section completely, without me cutting it. But stil I don't think I can get him to eat the largest section, even my cat doesn't eat this and I tried to cut it for her as well.

LOL, my fuzzes don't really like to eat the large bone either. Slinkee will usually try to stash it under the bed or couch so I'll see that it's gone and give him something else.. sneaky boy! So don't worry too much about that piece. Keep offering it but don't worry if he doesn't eat it. He's eating the other bones now, so that will give him his calcium for the chicken wing meal. A whole chicken wing is pretty big for one meal, so I usually cut them into thirds and feed them as separate meals. My kids will go through the wingtip pretty quickly so most of the time I feed those with the large section. That way I know they get their bone (from the tip) and they can eat the meat from the larger section when they get hungry again. The middle section I serve by itself as a meal, because it takes them longer to eat it.
Our main goal with your switch was to get August eating chicken wing bones and to make sure you understood how to balance a frankenprey/whole prey menu. I think we've succeeded with our first goal (yayy for August!!), so how do you feel about making menus? Do you feel like you understand what he needs and how to adjust a menu to compensate for 'off' poops?

I'm ready for making menus And very excited about it. New little baby boy arrives next week so it would be so great to have balanced menu ideas ready and waiting for him.

Is your new baby already eating raw or is he going to have to be switched?
The menu that you posted earlier is excellent. That sample is correctly balanced with 4 whole prey meals. Do you understand how to adjust if you increase or decrease the number of whole prey meals?

My new baby is in his current home eating both kibble and raw. I asked the breeder about it and she said all the puppies are eating raw well. I can go get him on Thursday. Biggest news are that Augusts urine test results didn't show anything wrong. Vet said he's completely healthy. I was very happy to hear that but also it's weird because he still has these leakages while sleeping. He's urine pH was 5. I think maybe I just have to give his body time to cleanse and heal. He has been on a very bad diet for a long time, maybe he just needs time and this problem will go away. I believe I understand how to adjust, you explained it very well.

August spent a lot of time at the beach today, digging in the sand, sunbathing and swimming in the sea. Water is still so warm. This morning he had pork tenderloin and when he came home he had one adult mouse. Having fun at the beach always makes him soooo hungry. In the evening I'll give him bone-in quail parts.

Sounds like fun. I'd love to take my fuzzies to the beach, but the closest one is about 10 hours away. Sad for me and sad for them. If you feel confident with the information I gave you, we can get you 'graduated' soon. There is a test I have to give you covering a few of the basics, so you'll want to read over that information I gave you earlier. Then I'll have to submit a final menu for approval. I can use the one you already made or you can make another one, your choice. I want you to feel comfortable with all this information though, so if you have any questions or feel that you need more time that's fine. Or if you want to wait and make sure your new baby eats everything, we can do that too.
