I've had a lot of girls but as far as I know only Poppy had adrenal (Kahlua got it long before she came here with Dar), and I've never seen rat tail on a girl. Dar says Kahlua got it around 2 years old and went to losing fur within a couple months. Well, now I have 4 fuzzies losing tail fur all at once. It looks like only Smokie has what you would call rat tail with blackheads, but the others, Pandora, Abita and Alice, are thinning on the tail. I sure hope it's the start of seasonal shedding. Abita and Smokie are only 2. Pandora is 2 1/2. The girls show normal vulvas and I'don't get much fur from any of them doing the pull test. I'm praying shed season is coming early, but they have bare skin on the tails. So far Rosa, Prissy, Lola and Yoshi look ok. I just started seeing this withing the past week.

It has to be early shedding. This month alone, RicoDico, AbbeytheFerret, Bitbyter (I think) and Julesalot have all posted about shedding.

My little girl ferret shed a fair amount of overcoat, but not to the point of it appearing bare.

Slinkee is shedding. Minnie is a floofy-butt and changed her coat last weekend while I was away. Her undercoat changed from grayish to golden and her face has gotten whiter.
