The name game is over, finally for sure....phew!

I talked to my daughter and asked her to help me find the perfect name. Taylor named Ponce, and I loved that name. So, we described our little girl. Tiny, white, and screams like crazy. Also, she is deaf.
Taylor suggested Keller. As an honorific to Helen Keller, who overcame incredible odds to become an amazing woman. Keller mean Little Champion in Gaelic.
So, I would like to officially introduce, Keller:


This morning, she made friends with Wynstan. He simply followed her around and she screamed. Then I put them into the tub with some blankets. She screamed. He sat on her, she screamed. He laid next to her, she screamed. Then she seemed to realize that he wouldn't hurt her and they fell asleep, laying next to each other. No screams.





She's tucked into bed now. Last night, I put a small plate of Stella and Chewy's tummy, ticklin turkey in with her and the plate was empty in the morning. For breakfast, she had some ground beef with egg. When I weighed her yesterday, she was at 1lb, 9oz.
One friend for her, three more to go.

Absolutely fits her . Ms Keller wasn't an easy person either and was strong willed and not an easy person to live with. Your little girl sounds wonderful

That sound is too familiar. I never heard it through about 12 ferrets until Dar brought her Canadian lot here. Now it's a rare day I don't hear it, between Lola and Rosa. They're such Drama queens.

It's a bit late to change Prissy's name to Helen. She's blind and just about deaf, but I think she may still be able to hear a little.

unclejoe, were the intros rougher with deaf ferrets? I expected Roamy to be aggressive, but Juliet is also. I suspect the screaming triggers a prey drive. What do you think?

I dont think so. Prissy doesnt care for any other ferret, and Pandy was the first to accept Rosa. I think Kahlua had issues with Prissy and Boodles for a long time. Ill have to ask Dar about her.

Yes yes yes... the deaf ferret scream. I know it well. Haha!
My Juliet whom is deaf screams quite a bit too, mostly when her best buddy Caillou, who weighs like 4lbs, lays on top of her while holding the scruff of her neck. Or when "sweet little Cai" grabs her and drags her around the floor, you'd think he was killing her from the sounds she makes! It's funny though, ferrets sure are entertaining little buggers.

We made some progress yesterday. Keller will tolerate Mika. So, now we have Wynstan and Mika following her around. She's fine with that as long as they don't try to touch her. I've watched carefully and they don't even try to grab her or jump on her, but she screams. Like unclejoe said, there's a bit of a drama queen in her.
She has stopped alot of the screaming around those two.

On the down side. I tried to let Roamy watch her and he jumped across the room and grabbed her. I removed him and he latched onto me. I have a mean big animal bite on my arm. I put her down and he grabbed onto my other arm. So, we will wait awhile, before trying again.

She's eating so well. No kibble in the house, so no kibble since Thursday.
