Hello everyone, I recently adopted a 4 month old ferret who my 3 year old named Mouse. He is the sweetest little dude. The only thing is, he is having some issues with biting pretty hard during play time. Does anyone have advise on how to fix this? Also, can anyone tell me what color he is considered?

What a cutie.
Given that he isn't deaf, I have found that a lot of verbal praise while playing and then if they bite say "No biting" in a very stern tone, end play and walk away worked best for mine. Also push into the bite instead of pulling away especially if they latch on. There are guides on other methods such as the bite hold somewhere around here.

He is a boy. And he definitely can hear. He will wake when my kids start crying and laughing real loud. I will try the no bite thing and see how that goes. Thanks

Keep a small stuffed toy in your hand when he bites hard shove the toy in his face and let him have it and stop playing with him. Keep doing this each time the play gets too rough.
2 of mine are deaf and that is how I got them to stop. Still even after 6 months when I am playing with them and when they get over stimulated they will stop and jump on a stuffed toy and shake and tear into it. Then come back and continue to play with me.

He is gorgeous! For my Loki I had to actually pin him down when he started biting really hard (along with attempting to latch on). I waited until he sighed and relaxed and then released him and resumed playing. He responded really well to that. I had to do it 2-3 time when he first started doing it at the beginning of the month, and once literally today. I think he got extra excited because I finally figured out where he had hid his favorite toy. (Which he promptly relocated to a new hiding spot.) Welcome to the board!

He is really cute. I would always make sure to say "ouch" or some verbal cry and then I would try the ignore first. Stop all play and ignore him. But if that doesn't work a 3 minute time out in a carrier with nothing in it is usually effective. Just ignore him while he is in it and let out after 3 minutes. Rinse and repeat as many times as necessary.
