I never thought about him having been taken from his mom early I guess I just thought that because he was seven months old he'd been taken at the right time, but that just means he was in those conditions so much longer D': He was so starved for attention when he first got to me, and he was so super skinny! I'm glad he's put on weight... My poor little Puck Biscuit

When I got Pandy from Petco she'd been there 5 months, plus a month at the warehouse, so she was probably 8 months when she got her first and forever home. Being confined so long with no chance to exercise made her a chub, and she still is, 2 years later.

Puck was nothing but bones when I first held him, but just in the couple weeks I've had him, and switched him off that crappy Marshall's brand kibble (he now eats Wysong Epigen 90), and am slowly switching him to Raw he's put on a good amount of weight:) He has some adorable chunk on him, and he plays so much more <3

I wonder if you could get him attached to a favorite stuffy (especially one that smells like you) that you could substitute as a soother instead of your foot or hand?

I will dig into his hidey hole, and pull out his blue stuffy! It's his baby, and before I trusted him enough to free roam in my room (or myself for that matter!) he'd sleep with that every night instead if my feet, so I bet he just needs something to love and cuddle <3 Thank you!!

Sherry, that really explains so much of the clingy behavior I have seen in Gilly since we brought her home. I really wish I had had a better understanding prior to bringing her home. I knew they were taken younger than they should be, but not that young. I was under the assumption that they were fixed and dissented then sent back to their mama until they were ready to board the plane and be shipped out. As horrible as I thought it was, it is worse!

I'm always amazed at how animals are able to go through all of that and still bond with humans and come out relatively happy.

I'm always amazed at how animals are able to go through all of that and still bond with humans and come out relatively happy. It often brings me to tear up... They come from such horrible places, but they're full of so much love that they still trust those who are lucky enough to encounter them to share a kiss, or a cuddle. Then there are this people who take them from one horror to the next, and hurt the souls that we, as people, we put on this Earth to Govern and Protect. I wish that this madness of animal breeding mills and abuse. These beautiful creatures deserve better.

It IS horrible what happens to them. And the lucky ones are those who survived long enough to wind up in caring forever homes. And yes- this is one of the reasons our mill kids behave as they do.

To be completely honest, it makes me glad to know that Puck was bought from a store, and I have learned about the treatment of these poor souls. I can now start to educate the people around me, and spread as much knowledge as I can. My end game is to hopefully wipe out the Ferret Mills, just like I'm out to end Puppy and Kitten Mills. America is the only country I know that uses these practices, and I pray every night that we can end the horrible treatment of animals in our Home.

When I got Binx,he was eight weeks old. Its untelling how long he was at the pet store before I got there to get him. I'm sure that If I hadn't gotten there within a few hours he would have been dead. He had eaten some of the care fresh bedding junk from the cage and it was stuck in his tummy. He had a prolapse from straining so hard to go potty. I force fed him a tiny bit of pumpkin and he finally passed it. He has been very attached to me ever since. Poor little guy didn't know how to be a ferret. I think that is why they get attached to humans and try to use us as their security blankets. We basically saved them and they have learned we mean safety and love and care. Its like a child with a favorite stuffed animal to sleep with. It makes them feel secure. You were his (stuffed animal).

Pucksmama, I fully back you on that desire. And I only wish we could wipe them out. But given that Marshall's pet ferrets are the smallest part of their business not likely to happen They provide the bulk of the ferrets and beagles for labs around the globe.

Tngmom: Oh, that poor baby! I'm so glad he found you in his hour of need! I'm so glad Puck came to me without those problems. No horror stories about my local pet shops yet. Except where they buy the babies from. Sherry: Sadly, I don't know if we'll ever be able to stop any money hungry company like Marshall's I'm just very idealistic. Even as a young girl, I tried saving every lizard, bird, cat, dog, or worm that I could find in need of help. I used to think of myself as an ambassador of the voiceless, and I know most of my rants will never help... All the hours I've cried over the sick, old, and wounded pets as I've nurtured them, or just held them as a vet helped them on their journey to God... They will never matter to the humans of this Earth. The strain I've put on my husband and mother as I've paraded a million animals into our home... The heart ache I've seen in shelters from animals that thought they were loved, but were left to die when new baby arrived or work got to stressful for them... My biggest hope is that one day my son will be able to stand in a world where animals are treated as the should be, but that is a long time coming... (Sorry I tend to rant about animal abuse and abandonment)
