Something that I have been extremely frustrated with regarding Proboards new programming is how they interact with Pictures and Videos. The old standby was Photobucket but since photobucket also changed its policies things have become problematic.
If you are using Photobucket then pictures link fine but videos no longer work due to how Photobucket has chosen to create the links to video content.
This pushes users to use YouTube for video which works fine.
Since I have a Google Drive account I would like to use it for my photos as well but there is an incompatibility between photos in Google Drive and Proboards that they seem unwilling to find a solution for. This is a pain in the butt since I have to use YouTube for video and Photobucket for images.
Well, I have found a way around that. You CAN link to Google Drive images (NOT Google Photos unfortunately), it just takes some work.
1. The photo must be in Google Drive NOT Google Photos for this to work. I created a folder in my Drive specifically for images I have uploaded here.
2. Create your post or comment on HFF and click the insert image button.
3. Add whatever label you want.
4. In the "Image URL" field paste in: "h t t p://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=" (without the quotes or spaces in http).
5. Open a new tab and go to your Google Drive and find the image you want.
6. Change the sharing permissions to "Anyone with the link".
7. Right-click on the image, select "Get Shareable Link" and copy the image id from the end of the url it gives you. The image id is a random string of numbers and letters at the end of the url.
8. Paste the image id into the "Image URL" field on your original browser tab (where you have the forum open) after the = sign of the code in step 4 and click the "Insert Image" button.
