Here's a scenario: I'm running late for school and the fuzzy's haven't finished their meal yet. Can I leave the raw meat in their cage from six a.m. to three p.m.? I say three because I don't know if they'll have it finished by then. I guess my real question is how long can raw meat stay in their cage?

I asked this question recently in my unofficial switching thread. Here's the answer Sherry gave: He is doing FANTASTICALLY!!! Again- if it goes off, he won't touch it so no worries there I leave their mince in(they get commercial raw in the mornings) for a good part of the day. If they've not eaten "enough" for me, I will often add a bit more water and mix it in. Most will take it like that. So let's say several hours? I am partial to this answer, as it takes the guesswork out of it. If it goes bad, they won't eat - simple. Of course, if they are outdoors or around bugs, you will need to be more careful. I leave food out from 6a to 3p and he won't eat it afterward, so it seems like that should be fine.

Mince, as above, 6-8 hrs sometimes more. Chopped chunks about 12 or so. Whole pieces up to about 24. Whole prey about 48

Oh wow. I was worried about leaving it for more than a couple. This makes it a lot easier. Thanks, guys!
