Two done, and one possibly two more to go Lucrezia and Odin had theirs done today. Odin was a sweetheart for it, in spite of the size. Lucrezia on the other hand...was not . She actually had to have a mild sedation as a) no one could hang onto her long enough, and b) she has virtually no loose skin around the neck and shoulders to put it into! She is that muscular. And then she tantrumed all the way home But then again, she always has had a temper!

I'm so glad to hear that all went well. Your Lucrezia sounds like quite the character. I don't remember seeing any pictures of her...pretty please! And I wouldn't want Odin to feel left out... (giggle)

Everytime I hear about feisty little Lucrezia, I always think she is just living up to her name.
Glad all went well

I used the bite hold on our three youngsters and then scuffed the top of the neck. I kept my arm under there back legs so they could not spring up when the vet put the BIG needle in.
Mogwai was first and he went ape as soon as the vet pushed the needle in. either that needle was sharp or Mogwai has thin skin. Taz went 2nd and he did a bit of squirming as well when the needle went in. But his skin was either tough as nails or the needle was dull. Blue was completely calm when the needle went in. he stayed pretty still but he cried. The vet told me that he would have to call me in to hold his next ferret he implants. He had one of his vet techs come in and watch the last one so they could see how to properly hold them.

Hehee that first pic of lucrezia says ferret w/attitude. Hope it works. You could biopsy half a liver with that needle. If it was sharp enough. Jaffa isn't shedding anymore and we're hoping to see his tail start to fill in soon. Fingers crossed.

msav- it took 3 of us just to take her temperature and a bite hold has never worked on her. She's one of those she demons who can turn her head 360 degrees just for the sole purpose of sinking her teeth into your knuckles!

Lucrezia has the face of an Angel, and apparently the temper of a devil...is she a Gemini?

I imagine I would then have to equip some knife gloves or some thick leather gloves. I thought Bleu was going to be the biter, (when he was a baby he would latch on pitbull style) But he was the calmest of the bunch, just a little crybaby.

Sherry, I'd like to ask if you are doing the des implants to try and prevent any adrenal or because they already have it? Sorry for asking, I am kind of new here so I'm sure it's been posted but I didn't see it.
Also in that second picture of Lucrezia, look at that puffy tail!! She looks and sounds like a handful and all kinds of fun!

Thanks. Is Des also what some people have been starting to use before they get adrenal to prevent it? Or am I thinking of something else?
