What great ideas! I gather with the one on the stair railing they don't bother climbing over it?

Wow, I'm impressed. That is genius. Our solution to keep Roamy away from (first)Mika and then Wynstan, during our introduction phases was awfully simple. It worked fine thought, and we have just this week, rehung the mirrors.

I never thought of using magnets on the playpen sections. I have suggested using playpen panels with a hook in the wall to make them easy to remove and install, but then you have a sort of dangerous hook sticking out waiting to grab someone's clothes. Of course most of the people that ask are relatively new ferrents, with unknown mechanical abilities. Can you show me the magnets and say where you got them?
My ferret-proofing bit me in the foot the day we brought Rosa home. I have a piece of paneling cut to fit across the door of the screen room, painted white for max visibility. Well, when you're carrying a large pet carrier (unoccupied, thank goodness) you may misjudge how high to lift your foot, and wearing flipflops... adds up to broken pinky toe.

The rod iron grate. Is to keep rough housing or war dancing ferrets from falling. Each time I have seen a ferret look over the grate they have always slowly backed away and never look over it again. Perhaps there is some sense of fear in ferrets after all. Or maybe just some sense. It has been like that for over 6 years with no incidents so I think it works.
I will post the link to the disc magnets with the hole in them after I find it again. The disc magnets I got at home depot.
I did the hook and gate latches in the wall at first , but I got tired of doing face plants, bending panels and ripping hooks out of the wall. The magnets release and don't cause damage to the panel, person or wall if they get tripped over.

Magnets!
What an ingenious idea. I've been stressing out over finding ways to build a decent barricade for our hallway, to keep them out of the kitchen area, and allow them to get out of their play room, and into the bedroom and bathrooms for more space.
I had this elaborate barricade idea in my head, was gonna make measurements and have Home Depot cut a bunch of wood pieces for me...
I can just use a bunch of magnets on our Play Pen Panels instead, and the same in the bathroom cabinets!
Heck I could just use the panels to block off the kitchen entry and finally allow our little brats to have access to pretty much the entire apartment. Presuming we can get the living room cleaned up and made safe for them! LOL

This is the only ferret proofing I have done so far other then his digging he hasn't done anything yet that I would need to ferret proof. Ignore the trash. They keep him blocked off from the kitchen and the hallway and he hasn't been able to get around them, over them, or knock them down yet. I haven't thought of a way to get him to stop digging in front of them, at the legs under the couch, and at the front door yet since I don't think chair mats will work at any of them.

lol Both my mom when she came over and our roommate have run into it but it just bends it hasn't broken. I know its there so I know to step over it and I use that one over the second white one because its alot easier for me to step over but its still tall enough that he can't get over it.

I would have to draw a huge hexagonal stop sign with the word stop with a fuchsia colored sharpie marker to keep me from running into that. But then again I am a magnet for destruction.
