Hello (wave) We had a good day. This morning was chicken wings. I chopped them with the cleaver, into small sections. Wynstan stashed a few and then I heard crunching. I think he actually ate a small piece. (dance) Everyone came over to investigate and then he went for another piece. Juliet tried to take it from him, and he politely allowed her to have it. The boys went for a walk in the cold and rain. That was the first time that I took two, out at once. It went exactly as I expected. One went north and one went south, then they switched directions and I ended up with two leashes wrapped around me. I took them inside, after about 15 minutes and they both snuggled into my lap and got towel dried. Then Roamy laid still in my lap and Wynstan climbed up on my shoulder and laid still. It was a busy day, with spring cleaning and I had so much help (giggle) Now everyone is sound asleep and dinner will be a little late tonight. I'm going to get in bed and read shortly, I will give them chicken chunks tonight and do the soupie with two livers for breakfast. Well your spring break went by fast, and now it's back to school. You must be getting very excited about moving to Washington. How do you feel about leaving Alaska? It's so beautiful there, but at least it's not that far and you can still visit and see friends. :thankyou: talk to you tomorrow, Stef.

(dance) Everyone came over to investigate and then he went for another piece. Juliet tried to take it from him, and he politely allowed her to have it.(dance) Good boy! That's a big step in the right direction! Did Juliet do any crunching? Try holding them in your lap and hand feeding little bone bits. If they like EVOO you can drizzle a little on to make it extra enticing (I would say salmon oil, but trust me you do NOT want that on your fingers LOL). The boys went for a walk in the cold and rain. That was the first time that I took two, out at once. It went exactly as I expected. I'm going to get in bed and read shortly, I will give them chicken chunks tonight and do the soupie with two livers for breakfast.Sounds like a busy day for everyone! I bet they are all tuckered out from helping out mom! lol Well your spring break went by fast, and now it's back to school. You must be getting very excited about moving to Washington. How do you feel about leaving Alaska? It's so beautiful there, but at least it's not that far and you can still visit and see friends.Ugh I know, I want more Spring Break. I'm not ready to be donnnneee!!!! >_< *tantrums* rofl We are definitely excited to go to Seattle. It's going to be a big change for Shane - first big move, and first time moving out. I'm an Army brat though, I'm used to moving. I went to 11 different schools before I graduated high school. I've lived in Germany twice and I think...7? 8? somewhere around there...different states. I've been to almost every state in the US. Right now Alaska is the longest I have ever been in one place before by a long shot. I've been here...7.5 years now. Crazy! Before that my longest streak was I think ~3 years in Texas and 3 in Fairbanks, AK. Even living here in Anchorage though I have still moved apartments an average of once a year. Two apartments I was in for 2 years each, but there were a few places I lived in for significantly less than a year. I'm a nomad - and my by choice. I can't wait to be done with school and residency and be DONE moving - build a house, settle in, plant my roots, and never leave again. Only we have 3 years of school (during which there will be multiple moves - minimum move to WA this summer, and somewhere else the next summer), then a min of 3 years residency - more if Shane specializes, which can't be done in state as Alaska only has one residency, Family Med (only accepts 10 residents) and Shane's not likely going the Family Med route. Then of course you have to factor in loan payback and saving $ to buy a house....so we will be able to stay put in about 15-20 years finally. Ugh. It's the military curse, once you're born into it it's so d*** hard to get your life stable and stop moving around every 3 weeks I swear. *grumbles* Oh well, at least now I have Shane and my boys so as much as moving is a PITA, it's not like when I was a kid. I didn't make friends easily bc I had bad social anxiety. It wasn't until high school that I actually had friends bc a year wasn't long enough for me to warm up to people and we'd move. Then we lived in Fairbanks, AK for 3 years in 7th-9th grade and I made friends finally - moving away then was rough. Right now though I don't have too many friends. I mean I have some, but I'm too busy to ever hang out anyways and there's only 1 friend here that I'm kind of close to. Our classmates will all be moving with us of course, and most of my friends from high school and undergrad moved away a while ago. In fact, most of them moved to Seattle, so I'm excited to see them. Esp my best friend Derek, the boys' assigned Godfather. He moved down there a year ago so it will nice to be closer to him again. Anyways wow didn't mean to write a novel! Sorry! Let me know how the liver soup goes in the am! Have you tried the game hen yet? Those are some really good bones, so try crushing those up and hand feeding the bone bits - they are nice and small and easy to eat. (dance)

Hello and Happy St. Patrick's Day
This morning everyone was hungry, and the chicken and livers weren't defrosted yet, so we had gizzards for breakfast. All of mine love gizzards and they ate quite a bit.
Bones: Juliet didn't do any crunching yesterday and Wynstan stashed all the rest of the bones. Oil is an issue with my guys. No one likes the Wild Grizzly salmon oil, EVOO is tolerated a little and they do like Canola oil, but I don't like offering it. I can dip the bones in some gravy made from the Wysong or Stella and Chewy's, so I will work on that. Everyone loves sitting in my lap and getting fed. Too much so, I have heeded your warning and after a few bites on my lap, I put them down next to the bowl. Mika usually runs away with her food and sticks her head into a floor vase. She's hiding...it's so cute because her little bottom is sticking out.
We haven't tried the game hen yet, or the Quail. I'll try the game hen tomorrow.
I haven't forgotten about posting pics of poops yet, I just haven't seen Mika's yet. I have puppy pads with plenty of poops, I just want to know for sure, who belongs to what, and she is the only one who's poop picture is still waiting.
I understand about moving, my family is military also and of course I was in for twenty years. Even after I retired, Paul and I have moved alot. Moving is fun, and I love being in a new place or house, but it is tough, when you're young and in school. The longest that I was ever in one place was elementary school, those were my "Wonder Years" (remember that show). It's so cool now that everyone is on Facebook. I've had a blast looking up people from my childhood, high school, college and everywhere else that I remember. I found my high school senior year boyfriend...he had been arrested and was in Drag. How strange, he looked just like Keanu Reeves back then. Is it usual for an entire class to move at once? I've never asked, what do you plan on specializing in, or is it too early to tell?
I'll check in this evening and let you know about the soupie. I'll be spring cleaning upstairs this week, but on my breaks, I check the HFF.
:thankyou: Stef

Tonight's soupie with two livers went exceedingly well. Roamy and Juliet finished off a full bowl, and Wynstan just had a bowl. Mika is not up yet, I'll let you know how she does.

I understand about moving, my family is military also and of course I was in for twenty years. Even after I retired, Paul and I have moved alot. Moving is fun, and I love being in a new place or house, but it is tough, when you're young and in school. I've had a blast looking up people from my childhood, high school, college and everywhere else that I remember. I found my high school senior year boyfriend...he had been arrested and was in Drag. How strange, he looked just like Keanu Reeves back then.LOL Yeah fb makes it easier to keep in touch with people...and snooping on what ppl are up to can certainly be um, interesting. lmao Can't say I have any stories as exciting as that though. Is it usual for an entire class to move at once? I've never asked, what do you plan on specializing in, or is it too early to tell?Well that's the way our program works. WWAMI stands for Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho. Of the last 4 states, 20 people are picked from the state each year, and Washington does its own admissions too. The first year of school you stay at your regional site, so we are up here in AK still. We are all technically enrolled in University of Washington School of Medicine though. For our second year, everyone from all 5 sites converges in Washington to go to UW - so our entire class of 20 is all moving down to Seattle. Then years 3 and 4 are clinical years. Clinical rotations can be done in any of the 5 states, at a variety of places in each state. You can hop around on the "Safari Experience" and go to a new state/city every 8-12 weeks for your rotations, or you can pick a state track, but then you do a lot of moving around within the state as all of the clinicals aren't offered in the same town. Right now our plan is to try to get into the Spokane track, as they have pretty much all of the clinicals in Spokane except for Internal Medicine (everyone has to go to Seattle for part of the IM rotation no matter what track you are on). As back ups we will also be applying for the Alaska track - we can do most of our clinicals in Anchorage except IM (but it wouldn't be driving distance!) and Surgery is in Fairbanks (6hrs North), and a large % of our class may be doing AK track so I suspect it will be harder for us than previous classes to get Anchorage rotations every time. The idea is to minimize separation. Then our other option is the Idaho track, which is similar to the Alaska track only you can do all of the rotations (I believe) in Boise except IM. My parents live in Boise though which is both a plus and a negative. lol I love them, but I prefer to have some space.

Hello (wave) Breakfast went very well. They all ate three bowls of soup with two livers in it. I have Game hen defrosting for tonights dinner. I took some turkey fillets out and everyone except Mika ate a few slices. Wynstan ate quite a few and Juliet ate a few and then stashed hers, which Wynstan then ate. Roamy had a good breakfast, then he ate some turkey and finished with some more soup. Wynstan wanted some lunch around 2:00 and so he got a few pieces of duck, duck, goose. Roamy, Juliet and Wynstan went to the front door last night and got big, bushy tails. They were sniffing and scratching at the door, so Paul looked out the window and there was a big raccoon in the garbage. It took awhile before everyone settled down and tails went back to normal. Mika continues her weeklong hijinks. I opened the napkin drawer this morning, and found her asleep and all snuggled up in a nest of paper napkins. She looked up at me, all sleepy and seemed to say, please close the drawer, a girl needs her beauty sleep. Everyone's poops look like normal, I haven't seen any light brown poops in a few days. I'm still trying to isolate a Mika poop, but I will post photos tomorrow, with or without Mika poops. She is pooping, I just haven't caught a photo of one of hers. I agree with you, about the Canola Oil. I don't like using that either. I'm going to try a different brand of fish oil, I don't think they like the Wild Grizzly oil. I will use FDR gravy until I can pick up another brand of fish oil. I never realized that Med Students would move so much. I would have loved that, when I was young, but it's completely different when you have a husband, 2 ferrets and a snake. I'm glad there is a track that let's you stay, relatively in place for awhile. I do understand about parents, Paul and I never had parents close by and I think it worked out best for us. It's also so different now, in the "old" days, long distance was only for emergencies. Now, between everyone having cell phones and social media, you can feel connected and know what's up with family, without having to see them. (dance) I will check in later, after dinner and let you know how the Game hen goes. :thankyou: Stef

Good! Amp up the liver again. Give this a try though....blend up the liver first (before you add the other meat) and see if they will eat pure liver soup. Sometimes it's a texture thing more than a taste thing. If they eat the liver-only soup we can go from there. If not, add a little chicken and keep going with the gradual increase. Wynstan wanted some lunch around 2:00 and so he got a few pieces of duck, duck, goose. You can leave the soup out - it is good for 6 hours. A general rule of thumb for free range feeding is that by the time it's time for the next meal, there should be 1-2 bites of food left from the previous meal. That way you know they got their fill, there was always food available, but minimal waste. If it helps, you can weigh their meals before and after to get a feel for how much they eat in each 12 hour period. I just eyeball it - you get a feel for how much equates a meal for them pretty quickly. Roamy, Juliet and Wynstan went to the front door last night and got big, bushy tails. They were sniffing and scratching at the door, so Paul looked out the window and there was a big raccoon in the garbage. It took awhile before everyone settled down and tails went back to normal.
How funny! I can't remember the last time I saw a raccoon...we don't have them up here. Mika continues her weeklong hijinks. I opened the napkin drawer this morning, and found her asleep and all snuggled up in a nest of paper napkins. She looked up at me, all sleepy and seemed to say, please close the drawer, a girl needs her beauty sleep. She is too funny! Everyone's poops look like normal, I haven't seen any light brown poops in a few days. I'm still trying to isolate a Mika poop, but I will post photos tomorrow, with or without Mika poops. She is pooping, I just haven't caught a photo of one of hers.Yay for normal poops! I agree with you, about the Canola Oil. I don't like using that either. I'm going to try a different brand of fish oil, I don't think they like the Wild Grizzly oil. I will use FDR gravy until I can pick up another brand of fish oil. Not sure if you can get it, but I use Wild Alaska something or other salmon oil. You can also try fish oil capsules (puncture the capsule and squeeze the oil out) - worst case if they don't like those either, they are good for You. I started with fish oil and moved to Salmon oil, I think the fish oil may be a bit more mild - salmon has a pretty strong and distinct taste (and smell). (dance)LOL Shane and I aren't married - promised to be, but he's stubborn and doesn't want to get married until after school when we can afford a nicer wedding. BUT considering he used to be against marriage (Ugh, men!! ) getting him to promise me we'll GET married is a huuuuuuge step in the right direction! haha lol We are "effectively married" though (no common-law in Alaska haha) - together for 5.5 years, 110% committed, live together, have plans for house and children, yadda yadda. Moving is super hard with the pets. Even without pets though, I despise moving. I hate change, I hate looking for new apartments, I hate packing AND unpacking, getting used to a new city (I have absolutely no sense of direction, I get lost in places I've been to a million times), etc etc. It's just not my thing - I have always hated moving. I'm counting down until we can come back up here for good.

Good Morning (wave) The game hen went well, everyone ate the hen, without complaints. (dance) Juliet was hacking around 2:00 a.m. last night, so I woke up and put some oil out for her. Then everyone woke up, all sleepy and groggy and wanted a snack. They all had some turkey fillet slices and went back to bed.
I put out a little more game hen, this morning and reread your last post. Then I decided to try liver soup (with six livers). That didn't go well at all. I added a little turkey and some more water, still no takers...so I added some Wysong gravy and still couldn't get anyone interested. It might be that they were full from snacking in the middle of the night, and breakfast at 8:00. I will try the soup later, when I know everyone is looking for something to eat.
I take fish oil in capsules, I will try and see if anyone would like some of that.
Tomorrow needs to be a heart meal, should I just do breakfast and dinner of hearts, or should I put a liver meal in there also?
I have four wild and crazy little ones, running like mad around the house, this morning. Roamy decided to drag Wynstan down the hall and Juliet decided to play tug of war with Wynstan. Wynstan took it all in stride and seemed pleased to be included in the big kids game. Then Mika launched herself on Wynstan and got a Wynstan ride, while Roamy pulled one way and Juliet pulled the other way. Juliet lost the tug of war, when Roamy pulled Wynstan, Mika and Juliet into the bathroom.
Moving: Too bad that I'm not closer, I absolutely love packing Agree I'm the complete opposite of a hoarder and just love putting things away and in boxes. I adore empty spaces, one day when I'm alone and elderly, they will find me in a completely empty house with just a Japanese style bed on the floor and a Kindle (giggle).
:thankyou: Stef

If not let's give that a try, I'd like to get some non-poultry meats in soon. RE the hacking oil is great - you can give eggs too, esp around hairball season. I put out a little more game hen, this morning and reread your last post. Then I decided to try liver soup (with six livers). That didn't go well at all. I will try the soup later, when I know everyone is looking for something to eat.lol it's possible that once they tried the pure liver soup they were like "nope, don't want soup mom!" Brats. That's fine though, we can just continue with the gradually increasing soup. BTW do you have access to any other organs? I forget if I asked this already. I take fish oil in capsules, I will try and see if anyone would like some of that. Cool, let me know what they think. Tomorrow needs to be a heart meal, should I just do breakfast and dinner of hearts, or should I put a liver meal in there also?Well I'm late on this I guess so let me know what you did. They are getting plenty of liver right now so it never hurts to skip a meal. What is you current ratio. You have 2 livers, but how much chicken? Is the soup about half liver? 1/3? 2/3? 4/5? 83/102? lol I have four wild and crazy little ones, running like mad around the house, this morning. Oh you should come up for a visit! I despise packing! I am super good at it though. A lifetime of moving teaches you to certain skills. haha Especially during your teen years when you absolutely MUST pack everything AND the kitchen sink! I never did learn to pack light, I just learned how to be super good at packing an ungodly amount of stuff into a small box/suitcase/bag... roflmao I think I hate unpacking even more than packing though. You have to figure out where everything goes, put everything away...and you ALWAYS get down to that final pile of random things that don't really have any good place to go but can't just be thrown away...

Good Afternoon (wave)
We did some hearts this morning, No one was too excited, but I dipped them in some turkey gravy (a little SC tummy, ticklin turkey FDR) and everyone ate a little. The next time that I checked, the bowl was empty, so Wynstan probably stashed the rest.
I do have pork, and I have pork brains. I don't have any other organs, I'll look around on our next trip into Nashville. I will pull some pork out for tomorrow, or would you like me to try the pork brains?
Six livers was too much, it was all liver, So I will go back and just ease into three the next time. The ratio was about 8 oz of chicken, 1/8 tsp eggshell powder and 2 livers for the most successful soup.
That room that you saw was my Manhattan room (it's a guest room). My mother and I go to Manhattan every October. We see shows, have tea, do some shopping, eat at amazing restaurants and always stay at the Surrey on the Upper East Side. It's my favorite thing to do, in the world and I just wanted to have a space that gives me that NY feel, especially now that we are in the country and all I see out my windows is the barn.
Any progress with retrieving file from your computer? I know that's a heartbreaker. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
:thankyou: Stef

I do have pork, and I have pork brains. I don't have any other organs, I'll look around on our next trip into Nashville. I will pull some pork out for tomorrow, or would you like me to try the pork brains?Ohh brains! Perfect! (dance) Do both. Try the pork meat, and you should just start mixing the pork brains into their organ soup. Their organ intake should be ~1/2 liver 1/2 other organs so we want to work them up to that. Six livers was too much, it was all liver, So I will go back and just ease into three the next time. The ratio was about 8 oz of chicken, 1/8 tsp eggshell powder and 2 livers for the most successful soup.okay so about 1/3 liver. Shoot for 3 livers next soup. We don't want most successful, we want to ride the edge of "unacceptable mom! buuut...I guess I will eat it." That room that you saw was my Manhattan room (it's a guest room). My mother and I go to Manhattan every October. We see shows, have tea, do some shopping, eat at amazing restaurants and always stay at the Surrey on the Upper East Side. I'm not a city person myself. I'd looooove to live on 200 acres with a barn and animals and trees to explore and.... Any progress with retrieving file from your computer? I know that's a heartbreaker. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Not yet, it's still en route to Jason. Keeping my fingers tightly crossed. And thanks!
