Haha, maybe your friends will see how awesome raw fed ferrets are and think about it for their animals. Most people are fairly confused at the idea of feeding meat for some reason. You might have to cut small lamb pieces for the other two and hide them in chicken.

Thanks, i'll try that tomorrow although we're still struggling with chicken. about my friends, none of them would be a good ferret owner. they are all to comfortable for having any pets except outdoor cats That vet in Slovenia, where i'm going with Nyx, don't like the idea they are on raw meat cause he's affraid of bacterias, parasites etc... but i wasn't confused,i explained him my reasons and he accepted. He does't ask me anymore about that

today weights
Nyx 985g Baylis 780g Oscar 1900g
having a problem with Baylis. she was stashing her chicken meat yesterday and eating today. it really started to smell bad but she doesn't want to eat fresh at all. i'm not sure should i let her eat that?
i'm mixing lamb with rabbit mince, now we're half rabbit-half lamb, Oscar and Nyx are eating fine. pieces aprox 1/2cm big.

Well it's unlikely to hurt her but how many hours out are we talking here? Keep an eye on her, if she keeps stashing we might have to change something but it maybe she just wasn't as hungry or not as thrilled with chicken. Sometimes mine ignore meat if it's not their favorite and I have to tough love leave it in awhile before they will give in. Definitely doesn't look as appealing after sitting out awhile but they don't seem to mind. However that's ferrets who are well adjusted to raw and whole pieces. Usually in my house small chunks turn into jerky rather quickly thanks to low humidity.

we are talking about 24 hrs, at least, and pieces 1,5cm. she loves chicken meat, she ate it since she was a baby and it was her favourite. i tried to give her only in her cage, but then she's stashing it in her bed or under the blankets. (little stashing monster... LOL)

Is she eating another type of meat in the meantime or not eating at all until the chicken is ripe?

i am putting fresh meat in her cage and she's eating when she's inside but just small amounts, almost nothing. but the moment i open the cage, she is going out with a piece of meat in her mouth and stash it, an in the meanwhile she is looking for stashed meat and eat.

I would offer Baylis a little less meat and when you open the cage up, take it away so she can't stash as much. Sometimes they do prefer ripened meat though, it's more smelly. Just like the fuzz that insist on eating in the litter pan. Or you could try making her chew for her meal, cut a long skinny strip of meat, hook to cage so she cannot run away with it. Is there a den or hideout in cage she can eat at? I wonder if it's a security thing or a picky thing.
Awesome to hear about Nyx up and playing, maybe she is finally getting over all the belly issues.

It' s not security thing, she has a box in the cage, near the food. I put it there for that exact reason. I'll try that with her food, but not tomorrow. tomorow i'm going with her to the vet for castration. Wish us luck!

Baylis is spayed today, finally after 2.5 yrs. When she woke up, she ate som raw mince and went back to bed. She just ate again few minutes ago and she's sleeping in Darla's lap. My kitty stole the rest of her food and ate it i am little bit worried about Oscar, he lost some weight. not too much, some 30g. Should i give him mince again with some small pieces of meat? Maybe i started too fast with him... the food is always in his cage but he just don't eat enough.

Nyx 990g Baylis 780g Oscar 1850g !
Oscar is active like before, no changes in his behaviour at all. Baylis is fine, like nothing happens, and Nyx is still more active than usual.

It's pretty amazing how fast they bounce back from surgery isn't it? For Oscar you can go back down in size a bit, mix in some of the bigger chunks and see if that entices him to eat more. They can fluctuate in weight so greatly it's hard to tell if it's an issue or not, how does he look? Could he just be leaning out or does he seem hungry like he's not getting enough food?

As i said, he's acting normally. I mixed today their mince with lamb chunks, he was eating fine. Hope tomorrow will be better. It's probably nothing, but this is all new for me and i'm worried they are not eating enough. So many wasted food so far, i'm giving them too much, obviously, cause every day at least 100grams of food, from both cages, ends in garbage. I am making them dried deer meat, i'll try to give them as a treat. I bought it yesterday
