So I came across this excerpt on a Yahoo group about MCTs and wanted to share. "Please try rubbing in some 1% hydrocortisone cream on the mast cell tumor twice a day for a couple of weeks. They will often regress significantly and occasionally completely resolve. You can clean the tumor gently (you want to at least make sure there isn't a big crusty area of dried blood) before applying the cream. This usually works fairly well for mast cell tumors. Sincerely, Katrina Ramsell Ph.D, DVM" groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ferrethealth/conversations/topics/18742I have been doing once a day on Koda (just due to schedule), he had a big MCT that popped up on his neck/shoulder. It has only been a few days and it is already going down.

I don't know whether to attribute that to the cream, or simply the fact that they normally go away on their own anyway. I'm out of reishi, and so Frodo's two haven't been treated at all. They come and go at will.

They come and go at will. It started improving almost immediately. I haven't used any Reishi either, I keep forgetting to dig it out of the closet. Anyways, I put the hydrocortisone on at night and by the next morning it was significantly less inflamed and had shrunk down. It helps a lot with the it hit too.

Put it this way... The MCT popped up out of nowhere and was SO big and itchy I was going to probably have it removed when we go in for Des this Sat. After less than a week of the hydrocortisone cream, it has shrunk down enough that I am probably not going to get it removed after all.

Might try this on my coondog too, he has one on his tail just above his bum, so I am sure it annoys him.

jbial- if your dog has one get him in IMMEDIATELY. For ferrets they are an inconvenience. For cats and dogs they are malignant!

What Sherry said. Mast Cell Tumors in dogs are nothing to fool around with.

Absolutely. And in NO way does this replace vet care of course. I'm still going to show the vet the mast cell on Sat but just likely won't have it removed.
