Thank you so much for setting this all up, gals! On the original forum, there's a link at the bottom of the main page to "View the 20 most recent posts of this forum." This forum only says the 10 most recent. Is that a number you can set? Could it be higher, like 50? I find that link is the best way to keep on top of all the great new info, but even if I can manage to check the forum two or three times a day, only seeing the last 20 posts means I'm still missing some. And 10 would leave even more out. Thanks again for all the time you put into this for the rest of us. ;D

This doesn't actually answer your question, but I frequently use the button at the very top that says "New Topics." It's next to the Home button, and the help button. It shows the last 30 threads that have been posted to recently and the last person who posted there.

i posted about the same issue in the suggestions forum...didn't know about the 'new topics' link at the top of the page, either!
that only catches 30 and that's not enough, we really do need it upped (on the link at the bottom)...i don't visit every day, so, i know i miss a ton of posts!

I did change the one at the bottom to 30. I gather you'd prefer something like 50?

Just to clarify : The link at the bottom of the forum shows the last 30 posts made. The new topics button shows the last 30 threads that were posted too.
If you wanted to see the posts from the last couple days, you'd have to up the number quite high, because they are a lot of individual posts to a lot of different threads.
Usually, there are no more than 30 threads being actively posted to in a single day (from my experience). So it catches quite a bit of the activity.

Frankly, I'd love to see it set at 100. I don't know how taxing that is on the server, but I would think that traffic isn't SO high that it would make a difference?
I've been using the "new topics" button, but I still miss the "recent posts" because it allows you to skim literally everything on one page. There are lots of gems of information hidden in things like people's switching threads that I might not otherwise be checking into every day.

Done We'll see if there's any adverse effects, and if not, I'll leave it at 100 for those who'd prefer to look at the last "posts" as compared to the last threads, lol!

i'm seeing browser lock-ups with the 'posts since last visit' button. on both computers, too. one is win sp3 with ie 7 (may be ie 8, tho, i can't remember) and the other comp is win7 home premium w/ie8.
i've also seen lock-ups with the last 100 posts search too.

I will look into this issue- unfortunately it could be caused by several factors. The operating system, browser limitations, RAM, cache...
I'd try removing all cookies and cache from your Internet browser. Restart. You could also try a different browser. Chrome and Firefox are both better options. If that doesn't work, there's not too much else that can be done on the forums side. Depending on how often you login, there could definitely be a significant amount of information loading at once.

It's also possible it's because I switched it to last 100 posts. Might be too much for most browsers to handle. Jackie- can you flip it to the last 50 please? See if there are as many problems with that?

jackie, the lock-ups are happening on two different o/s and, iirc, two dif versions of ie. that indicates it's a coding issue or a proboards issue - not a cache or cookie issue.
actually i'm sure it's proboards...there are always glitches with these proboard forums...in fact, all the forums that i go to that are proboards have some kind of issue - and each one has a dif issue! and they all have display issues - as in, various things don't display properly.
other proboard sites have the bottom search set to 75 or 80 or 100 posts. i've never had any problems with these settings on any other forum.
but, sheesh!! people are talking too much here last 100 posts isn't catchin' all the gabbin' ;D and only last 75 will miss even more of the posts!
that's why the 'posts since last visit' was good as it would catch everything.
if it can be worked out great - if not, we'll deal

Thanks for understanding, Joclyn! We do the best we can, but Jackie is only one person, and unfortunately, she's the only one of use(staff) who truly understands computer issues ;D
