I have just adopted a rescue. A real big boy and I was told he had a urinary tract infection. It was treated and went away. I have recently noticed that his belly is wet and it smells like pee. Like, its always damp from leaking pee. Could it still be the urinary tract infection still affecting him, or just him being a gigantic fat ferret? Im taking him to the vet who treated him before to see whats going on. Just wanted some opinions from anybody here.

If possible I'd watch him and see if maybe he's just too low to the ground when peeing normally. Gwin does that sometimes and gets his whole belly soaked in pee.

It could be a number of things. Is he a farm ferret? If so it could be adrenal (prostate issues). It could be the urinary issue has returned. It could be kidney stones (which has been an issue in some kibble fed ferrets). It could also just be that he's fat and drags his belly through his own urine. ciao

Hi and Welcome to the HFF. You will want to wipe his little belly and get the pee off. Just like a baby, that can irritate his skin. What's his name and how old is he?

Pee bellies is one reason I use swheat litter. I find it works much better than many other methods at keeping the pee drained away from big bellied sqatting males.

Well I know he doesn't have adrenal he was just at the vet before I adopted him. His name is Patrick and he is 4. I believe because he's so big and chunky that he's just low riding around. Plus I have tile so he's slipping too. So I've just been keeping up with wiping him down. He's starting to like it cus I give him paw massages and he just falls asleep :3
