Im currently feeding Miko and Calli 50/50 Wysong Epigen 90 and Evo cat food (I read that the Evo cat and ferret are identical formulas). And theyre doing awesome on it! Calli especially is so FLUFFY and soft, its amazing. Im so happy I found the moredooks chart so I would know better than feeding them Marshals Select Chicken, which is what they were on before.

Keep a very close eye on Evo. There have been several recalls in the last several months.

I've been feeding the Drs. Foster & Smith ferret formula since January. I learned about the kibble from the More Dooks site and thought that, given its rating, it would be an acceptable free-forage food to keep my furkids happy while I'm at work. Rogue and Gambit both switched to the Foster & Smith kibble without a fuss. They are both extremely active young ferrets (under 6 months) and seem to be growing steadily with soft, healthy coats. When I'm home and can supervise them, they receive raw eggs or ground turkey as a special treat. I'm hoping to add more raw into their diets soon.

Just be cautious about giving any wet and dry foods too close together. That can cause bacterial overloads that need antibiotics to clear up. There should be a couple hours between.

I am fairly certain that I will be adopting a ferret in the next few days. She is only 5-6months old, and is currently on a more unhealthy type of kibble I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Wysong Ferret Epigen 90 Digestive Support food? I have heard some of the news about the changes to the formulas, and I was not sure if that would be a good one to carefully switch her over on?

W1th all the formula changes to Wysong, 1 would stay away from them, for now.
Some of our k1bble feeders should we1gh 1n soon, and offer other suggest1ons. You m1ght take a look at Stella and chewy's FDR tummy t1ckln turkey and duck, duck, goose. They are a freeze dred raw product (sorry, the "eyes" are m1ssng from th1s computer). The fel1ne product 1sn't terr1bly expensve and offers alot of the same bene1f1ts as raw.
Most of pur k1bble feeder w1ll m1x two k1bbles. L1ke EVO and Or1jen. That way, 1f a formula changes or they have a recall or d1scont1nue the product, you st1ll have the other k1bble to fall back on.

@ninjetta have you considered a species appropriate diet for your new little one?

Yes I have! That is my goal eventually; to be able to feed her, and any other ferrets I get, raw. Should I just keep her on the kibble that she is on until starting that transition? (Her owner at this time has her on Marshall Premium)

All of the Mentors would def1n1tely prefer to see you go full raw. For those, who prefer to stay on k1bble, we try to help them f1nd the best qual1ty k1bble, but even a good qual1ty k1bble won't have the benef1ts of a raw d1et.
Ferrets 1mpr1nt on the1r food, and so putt1ng off a sw1tch can make 1t just that much harder, to conv1nce a f1n1cky ferret, that you aren't try1ng to po1son them.
Take a look at some of the Members sw1tch1ng threads and see how the process works. You already know that you want to sw1tch (what's her name go1ng to be?) her from Marshall's to another k1bble, so g1ven that, you w1ll be look1ng at sw1tch1ng her from one k1bble to another and then another sw1tch to raw. What you could do, 1s start her on a soup1e 1n the morn1ng, see how she takes to 1t and then only offer the k1bble (that she 1s use to) 1n the afternoon. A baby of f1ve or s1x months w1ll most l1kely be thr1lled to f1nd a ch1cken w1ng tucked 1n, w1th them at n1ght.

Epigen 90 digestive support is part my ferrets' mix, and they're doing pretty well so far. Wysong is in denial about how wide spread the problems with their recent changes are, but I'm glad they conceded that something comparable to the original formula was needed and they now sell the separate types of Epigen.
I'm emailing Zupreem asking them for details such as how much of the food is plant sourced and how much is animal sourced, and they haven't been very informative yet. They either don't know or they don't want to say, although I'll give them a chance to refer to their vet and send me a response. If it's not favorable, I'm probably going to drop Zupreem for Orijen, since two of the first 5 ingredients in Zupreem are plant based.
Sherry, after I get my coffee grinder in the mail I plan on starting to introduce my ferrets to soup. Could you tell me more about the need to space apart feedings of wet and dry food? Is this still necessary if all of the ingredients in the soup are cooked?

Is this still necessary if all of the ingredients in the soup are cooked? There was alot of d1scuss1on, qu1te awh1le back, about Zupreem us1ng peas and that leads to k1dney stones. 1'm not sure where we are on that now, hopefully someone else w1ll know more about Zupreem. Also, you asked Sherry about spac1ng apart wet and dry foods, 1f you tag her, she w1ll see th1s quest1on and respond qu1cker. To tag someone, hover your cursor over the1r user name...Sherry w 1ll show up as @adm1n (us1ng a real "eye", m1ne 1s stuck) and type the1r name 1nto your post. Make sense? The tag w1ll show up as block letters and let you know, you were successful n tagg1ng.
One last qu1ck note: your soup should be raw, not cooked. Ferrets get more nutr1ents from the raw food, unl1ke humans who d1gest and rece1ve more nutr1ents from cooked food.

There are some great s1tes for name searches, and 1 espec1ally l1ke look1ng thru Nat1ve Amer1can (1nd1an) names, they have so many w1th fun mean1ngs. My M1ka's name means "beautful smell" and has several other mean1ngs. Wynstan means B1shop's R1ng (wh1ch usually had an Amethyst 1n 1t). Wynstan came to us on our Amethyst annversary.

Okay. For Zupreme avoid Zupreme grain free like the plague. We've had far too many member not only have to have surgery for their wee ones for cystine stones due to this but also many losses. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I am SO glad kibble hasn't entered my house in years except with newbies who start their transitions day one. As for spacing wet/dry foods it NEEDS to be about 2 hours minimum. If you have a healthy ferret(IE vet checked/bg checked) 12 hours is fine during transition. Issue is bacterial overloads needing antibiotics are much more common when the two are combined. Wet and puree kibble, no issue combining with raw. But fed dry with raw? Not a good idea
