She is very pretty I cannot believe she is that big! What will you do if she's gravid? I suspected she was gravid or becoming gravid a while ago, so I have already done all that I can do. Extra calcium supplements, lots of water, and a lay box. Either she will lay the eggs, reabsorb the eggs, or do neither and become egg bound and need to go to the vet. Only time will tell. You can tell a lot by how much she eats. The more the eggs grow, the less she will eat as they compress and put pressure on her stomach. Then she will stop eating entirely. Then she will either lay them, or reabsorb them and start eating again.

She's HUGE Love her colouring- such a very bright green She's SMALL! Check out this boy! ;D www.herpcenter.com/green-iguanas/33774-rexy-boy.htmlShe is very big though I must agree. She will become much more ginormous though. Not sure what will happen then...she will probably just boss me around...whip me with that tail until I am crawling on my knees and begging for mercy while I bow to Her Royal Giantess and offer her a plate of the brightest greens and juiciest peaches that money can buy... ;D ;D ;D ;D

they grow so fast. we have two young ones (they have to be siblings because they were little tiny babies when we first saw them and they were the same size) they live in the jasmine bushes in our yard and it is amazing how big they get in just a year.

that boy is big!!! Are there different type of iguana's? Because that boy looks so much different than Tito does! The answer to your question is both yes and no. Yes there are several species of iguana, but no the male ig pictured is indeed the same species as Tito. There is a significant difference in the physical appearance both as iguanas age, and between males and females. Both Tito and Rex (the large ig pictured) are Green Iguanas ( Iguana iguana). The so called "Red Iguanas" and "Blue Iguanas" sold in the pet trade are also Green Iguanas. They are all the same species - Iguana iguana. However, there are different species of igs... *puts on nerd glasses* Rock Iguana (I do believe there are a handful of subspecies of Rock Iguana) see here for pics of different Rock iguanas: www.herpnut.com/page.php?page=homeRhinoceros Iguana (I think they are technically a species of Rock Iguana) Grand Cayman Rock Iguana - THESE are the True Blue Iguana. They are a severely endangered species and very beautiful animals... Lesser Antillean Iguana Fiji Island Banded Iguana (I want one!) The relatively newly discovered Pink Iguana I know there are a few more I am missing...

And Between Sexes... Male: Males tend to turn bright orange during breeding season Female: Very top is male, very bottom is female. The poor schmuck stuck in the middle I am not sure "Red Iguana"

Those big males are very intimadating looking!!! Which is part of why I was VERY VERY glad when Tito "decided" to be female! ;D Males can become very aggressive during breeding season.
