I wish they weren't vicious! They are so pretty! Heck, if they weren't so aggressive, maybe breeders could use them to diversify the gene pool?
Also... *SQUEE*!!!

I would positively HATE to see any breeders get their hands on these wee creatures. Because guaranteed SOMEONE is going to mess with the gene pool and they would start having as many defects as domestic ferrets. Except they'd also be able to hybridized with wild stock.

Nice. Much better angle than the National Zoo cam. They are huge for 3 weeks.

Sherry- you bring up valid points. But I was just fantasizing. I love their coloring, but i do not think in any way should their genetics be introduced into the gene pool. To many defects to risk it. It is just nice to fantacize some times. That was mine.

Actually the gene pool of the Black Footed Ferret is not great either. They were pushed so close to extinction that the number of breeding pairs they had to restore the population was very small. Therefore, the gene pool there very shallow and as a result they have poor immune systems. It's mentioned in a few documentaries I've seen on them.

I wish my phone was working...even a little bit! Evwn connecting to the internet wirelessly isn't helping, because the internet is running like crap! I hate being stuck at work on days like this! What happened to momma? Where did she run off to? What is happening with POV? I want to watch the babies!

Momma BFF usually disappears to eat and/or potty and is back before long. As babies get older she'll be gone for longer and longer periods. Which is what needs to happen as a part of reintroduction to the wild

While I know there is no sound on this one, I've noticed something rather interesting. It doesn't appear as those these wee ones call out like their domesticated cousins. No little mouths opened to call like with say the PVO ferrets. Has anyone else noticed that? Must be an instinctive behaviour in order to hide from predators.
