Ok...will try to make this make sense
I have on hand:
- 6 different proteins of NV (chicken, lamb, rabbit, venison, beef and duck).
- 2 proteins sources of Primal (pheasant and quail)
- 6 grinds from HareToday (duck, quail, rabbit, turkey, mutton and pheasant) + duck gizzards, and pork hearts
- From grocery store - pork chops, beef cubes, lamb neck bones, chicken thighs, chicken wings, rabbit, ground turkey, ground pork, ground lamb, beef liver, beef heart, chicken hearts
So I have plenty of protein sources to choose from (maybe a little overkill...lol...but I like to have options!)
I also have salmon oil, ferretone, ferretvite, pumpkin, ground bone meal and taurine.
And I have a 'process' for making soups...so felt I should explain
I pull out from the freezer a couple medallions each of 3 or 4 protein sources so I have enough for a couple of days. It may be chicken, lamb, rabbit and quail one time...and then next time I will grab beef, venison, duck and pheasant. So they get switched up every couple of days or so.
Then I packaged all my meat from HareToday in 8 oz baggies...so I will grab a baggie of turkey and use it for a day or two (however long it lasts) and then next time I need more HareToday will grab a different protein source of the HareToday.
My soups are made with a combination of both the NV and the HT stuff and occasionally some ground meat from grocery store added too. And I make 4 individual soups...so in each bowl will be a half to 3/4 of a NV medallion and a 'heaping teaspoon' (not a measuring tsp but a regular teaspoon) of the HareToday ground that I pulled out mixed with a little bit of warm water. Then they get a dollop of pumpkin and a couple of drops of either salmon oil or ferretone. And a couple of times a week I will add about an 1/8 of a tsp each of taurine and bone meal....just to be on the safe side.
Then in the evenings I will leave a bowl of some sort of chunks, wings, 'dry' ground HT or chunks of organs for anyone willing to eat straight chunks...which at the moment is basically just Riley and Stevie...but Milo will take small pieces of ground meat if I hand feed him. And hopefully one day Sammie will eat some chunks that aren't in soup. I will keep working with them to try more chunks...but I like the idea of keeping them mostly on CR so I can't screw up their diets too much
So the menu for this week is:
Sun am: NV + ground from HareToday (HT)
Sun pm: leftover from am + more HT added / ground HT & pork chop chunks
Mon am: NV + ground HT
Mon pm: leftover from am + more HT added / chicken wings & ground HT
Tues am: NV + pureed liver & heart
Tues pm: NV + pureed liver & heart / chicken wing & ground HT
Wed am: NV + ground HT
Wed pm: leftover from am + more HT added / duck gizzard + chicken thigh
Thurs am: NV + ground HT
Thurs pm: leftover from am + more HT added / chunks heart & liver
Fri am: NV + ground HT
Fri pm: leftover from AM + pureed liver & heart / chicken thigh + 'dry' ground HT
Sat am: NV + ground HT
Sat pm: leftover from am + more HT added / beef chunks & chicken wing
Hopefully this all makes sense. I like mixing it all up rather than saying one day they get lamb and the next chicken or whatever. I haven't had any issues with them turning their noses up at their soups with them being all mixed up...so it seems to work for us.
