I'm making this thread to document my experience with suprelorin/deslorelin and my intact female, Nyxie. Nyxie was born 5/13/2012 (adopted from DCF in the UK) and imported to the US when she was about 4 months old. Nyxie came into season 1/07/13 (about 8 months old) about was implanted on Friday, 1/18/13 with a 4.7mg implant. I'll include photos and updates along with any behavioral changes I've seen. good to note that vets methods differ... some do no shave or anestetise, some shave and some even give whiff of gas ...

I have a jill, Sikka, who has a superlorin implant. The Vet didn't initially anesthetize and Sikka went absolutely nuts, mauling his hand, so she ended up getting enough gas that she was groggy for the rest of the day. She still gets mentioned every time I go back. That was the day after I retrieved her from her former owner, and she had been in heat for a good while, which said former owner had ignored. She went into a false pregnancy, no complications, and afterwards she's been absolutely fine.

My vet neither shaves nor sedates for the DES implant. There are a number of different methods depending on vet preferences. ciao

Heather, I haven't seen any real change in behavior yet. She's been her typical naughty self ;D

That doesn't change ;D I found with Lady Morgain that her appetite improved, she was more relaxed and in better humour. About 30 days into it I started to see changes, weigh gain, nipples swelling, less fur on belly and she started making nests. She also started getting snarky too...but a lot of her nippy, snarkies may have been her settling in too. I will be interested to see how her false changes this year over last year. She's much more confident and settled this time. ciao

Day 4: vulva continues to go down. There is a small red dot on the one side. Is this just irritation? Should I be worried? Attachments:
