That's ok, it's just a cheap alternative. Eat an omlet, dry the egg shell and then pound to a powder. I use a mortar and pestle, Sherry uses a coffee grinder (think hubby would kill me if I stole his ;D) ciao

I am so stupid, my ferrets were on Hill's Z/D because one of them has a food allergy. Of course it's not the best food but it was too difficult to keep them on separate diets.
We moved and found a new vet who recommended switching to the Blue Buffalo food sensitivity diet. I didn't realize that the Blue Buffalo has peas while Hill's Z/D does not.
Now two of my ferrets have developed bladder stones. They are struvite and we are trying to dissolve them in the girl, but in the boy he got blocked and needed surgery to remove them. Since it was an emergency it cost me $2200... but I am more upset about the trauma to him, and possible long term damage. His kidney values are back to normal but he still has stones in his kidney.
We should have stayed with the Hill's until I could find them something better.

I'd suggest pointing out to the vet that he was wrong and to especially never recommend anything with peas for a ferret.

Correction the girl's stones were struvite but the boy's were cystine He passed away a week after the surgery The vet is in denial that there is anything wrong with the food. Blue Buffalo is also denying that they've ever seen any reports of this
