I have 3 ferrets the one in question is female and I've had her since Feb. 2010
My concern is that she's NO bigger than the day we brought her home! She's a year and almost a half now and I swear she's no bigger than a 10 week old!
It really didn't occur to me that she was quite petite until I purchased my newest ferret - Jake - at 8 weeks old and she was just a *tad* bit bigger than him, now my newest one seems to be almost twice her size and he's less than 3 months old
My other female - Chelsea - came from the same litter as Charlie and she's 3 times her size! She's eating, drinking, playing - no outward signs that she may be *sick* and I don't believe her to be but when I look at her size compared to my other 2 it makes me wonder ...
Is it *normal* for her to not have gained nor grew any after more than a year of having her with us?
Her personality, demeanor all fine - its just her size that has me concerned a bit, if not for the fact that she's been eating me out of house and home, drinking water like theres a shortage and using me for a *jungle gym* when she's out I would've taken her in months ago - but now we have Jake and I know males tend to be bigger but my gosh we've had him a little over a month and he's twice her size and was born March 3rd!

I've got a 1lb female, and a 2 1/2 lb female. Some are just small. We got Suki at 8 months of age, and all she is is a pound. Miss Emily was 5 months, and is now only 1 1/4 pounds. My biggest boy is 3lbs summer weight usually. So, three times Suki's size. And in the winter, he's even bigger Lucrezia was 13 weeks when we got her, and is now 2 1/2 pounds. Some of it depends on early nutrition, some on genetics. If she's acting normally, you can talk to your vet, but I don't really think you have anything to worry about. Out of curiosity, do you know how much she actually weighs?

You say she is small, but how small is small? As Sherry pointed out, there are a wide range of sizes in ferrets and the marshals furkids seem to have some of the widest from the really tiny...I have a little girl who weighs less than a pound, Nasty Natasha.....Sprite is just under 2 lbs and then of course there's Lady "B" who weighs just under 3 lbs during the winter (She's a PV). This is a video of my wee Natasha beating up a cat toy. and helping herself to the dog's food ciao
