Anyone who has a ferret nation cage, I was wondering if it's worth the money, I want to get it the 2 story Ferret Nation cage. It's around $225 at petsmart, and every review I've read, said it's a great cage. I was just wondering if anyone has any stories or anything I need to know about the cage. Thank you.

It is worth every penny! . The fact that the doors open all the way is a lifesaver when it comes to cleaning, cages with smaller doors are such a pain! You should be aware that there is an old model and a new model. The old two-story model (ferret nation 142) is harder to assemble but way sturdier and better. The new one (182... I think. It's 180-something) requires no tools to assemble but it not as sturdy, which isn't the greatest. That being said you can probably get a used one for way cheaper. And they are so durable, that used ones are usually in fantastic condition.

Newer models have different, better shelf/ramp designs. If you get a FN from any store, it should have the updated versions and include ramp covers, so you're all set. However, if you end up getting a used one, you'll want shelf and ramp covers to avoid a few issues. There should be plenty of past threads showing the differences and easy solutions if you're not sure what you've got! I love, love, love my FN

There were actually 3 generations of shelves for them I've got two of the 2nd generation 142's And then I got a 143 add on with the new shelf design. I REALLY like the new shelves! Perfect for water diggers ;D But yes, whether 142 or 182, still worth it in my books I honestly don't think I'd know how to go back to the small door cages! This one is so easy to clean, since both front doors open fully, giving complete access to the interior. AND you can put the middle ramp up and make two separated cages. Perfect if you've got a sickie you've got to keep isolated. Or if, like me, you've got separate playgroups because they don't get along.

DEFINITELY worth the money!!! I love my FN and am SO glad that I sprang the $ to get it. The kids love it too, they race up and down the ramps/levels (I have 3 of them and the double is more than enough space).

Just wanted to add my vote - The Ferret Nation FN 142 two-story cage is WORTH EVERY PENNY! I was able to enjoy my ferrets WAY more once I got this cage! Best ferret-related purchase I have made, other than the ferrets themselves

Love the cage. We have the add on also. Mine have more fun since I removed the ramps and used hammocks in their place, ( they love to run and jump down the hole onto the hammocks on the next level). My only problem was trying to hook up the ramp to seperate the sections. 2 of my ferrets learned how to side the ramp over just a tiny bit so my small girl could squeeze through.

theros really nothing bad to say about a FN cage. Sure they can cost a bit but with how sturdy they are, size, acessability and ability to inter connect and modify they wind up lasting so long in pristeen condition that they are well worrh every penny spent Their is one down side to them though, their so big and wonderful you'll start wanting to get more fuzzies to help fill it up.

I went through 3 cages before I gave up and spent the $ on my FN 182. I don't have a credit card to buy stuff online (I hate banks), and in-stores here they were marked up almost $80 over the online price. It was worth every penny though and I don't regret the $300+ purchase for a second. There is just no comparison in terms of space and ease of cleaning. Plus, there's a hundred ways to expand the thing with the add-on levels.

We too have a ferret nation cage. However, go to ferret.com. My wife and I were able to use enough coupons that she looked up online and the starting price ($199 I believe) that the whole cage+shipping came to $198.00.
